Valid point, so here's an article. These were "no jail" deals. www.ibtimes.co.uk/ken-paxton-n...

In a 2-car household. Sounds like if we replace one with an EV for local trips (mostly 10-20 miles in a day), we wouldn't even have to worry about installing a 240-V charger?

Wherever you live in the U.S., check that you have copies of your birth certificate, marriage record, etc. If you've moved from your birthplace, it can take weeks to get those.

It's probably safe to assume that if a comment includes "gal", it's not going to have much useful to say.

Similarly, they've tried to justified their violent roundups of immigrants based on their notions that immigrants increase crime and are economic drains on our country. Neither of those ideas are substantiated by data.

They already "accidentally" exposed many of the victims' names, so we know the purpose of this ridiculous process. Might as well just rename the so-called Justice Department as the "Cover-Up" Department.

And when/if SCOTUS rules the tariffs illegal, who do the tariffs get paid back to? I'm guessing corporations, not consumers.

Here in the U.S., one big response was always "we can't afford that". But this past year, we've seen that apparently deficits don't matter and endless taxpayer $$ can be thrown at useless, destructive goals. So yes -- why not go bold for a better future?

I agree -- it obscures the reality. In one case, they watched the survivors struggle for ~40 minutes, then attacked them again.

Billionaires bought our media to propagandize for this disastrous presidency, mainly so they could have more $$$$. They don't seem to care that they're killing people and crashing our economy. If nothing else, we're a lesson for other countries -- don't let the wealthy get too wealthy.

Getting ready for midterms is vital, but don't overlook the 2025 elections. If you have one, be sure to vote!! There are ballot measures, 2 gov. races, some state senate/house races. Local school board and city councils also have a big impact on the future.

Any new Dem funding bill should specifically outlaw that Argentina giveaway. We're paying more random tariffs, farmers are harvesting crops they can't sell, and we're giving money to Argentina???

A lot of energy and water wasted to force something on us that we don't really need. It's a lot like cryptocurrency mining.

That's why it's puzzling that they're not just releasing it all. They promised the conspiracy-loving base that they'd disclose everything and take down the elite. Instead, they're covering up and offering reruns about Hilary's emails. Why?

Instead of using a special session to fund better flood warning systems, they'll further gerrymander voting. Wow.

LfromMN @lfrommn.bsky.social · 06/07/2025
Exactly. They deliberately stripped money and personnel from our life-saving warning systems.

Hospital and nursing closures will start a lot sooner than the midterms. On one hand, a wake-up call is needed. On the other hand, this is going to be horrific.

Taking away National Guard wildfire fighting/training is reckless. And they've already recklessly cut people and funds from national land management. The political fallout depends on whether the next wildfires occur in the Trumpier rural areas or in urban areas. Either way, will be awful.
000
LfromMN @lfrommn.bsky.social · 17/06/2025
They'll sell our public lands to billionaires at bargain prices and then make us foot the bill for protecting the new vacation mansions from wildfires.

What would make them turn? For oligarchs, if the tariff/econ. chaos costs more than they'll rake in from tax/regulation giveaways. Maga bullies will turn on him if they sniff weakness. GOP congress-cowards? if fear of angry donors and betrayed Maga bullies becomes greater than fear of Trump.
000
LfromMN @lfrommn.bsky.social · 12/06/2025
Exactly. Every National Guard and every $ sent on the propaganda mission to LA isn't helping where they're actually needed.
001
LfromMN @lfrommn.bsky.social · 10/06/2025
I'd rather use all this money and the National Guard to help with natural disasters (rather than to stir up trouble and create a pile of propaganda)

In case anyone is thinking ahead to the 2026 elections: In 2024, Gabe Evans won by 0.8%. Jeff Hurd won by 5%, Lauren Boebert won by 11.6%, Jeff Crank won by 13.8%

Sneaky --delay the Medicaid cuts until 2029 but let the billionaire tax cuts happen right away. Plus some sneaky add-ons to the budget bill, including prohibiting states from regulating AI. The so-called party of deficit hawks and state rights is really just the party of billionaires.
010
LfromMN @lfrommn.bsky.social · 16/05/2025
Also meanwhile 1) their "beautiful" budget bill proposes life-threatening cuts to give bigger tax breaks to billionaires. 2) they're wasting law-enforcement resources chasing immigrants/citizens they don't like. and 3) they're getting crypto-grifts, "free" planes, and who knows what else.

LfromMN @lfrommn.bsky.social · 15/05/2025
Wow -- the nation's debt gets ballooned and billionaires stuff more money in their pockets. The rest of us get our safety net ripped away, govt services slashed, and higher prices due to tariffs. What's not to love?

“In fact, Treasury Department data says spending is up 10% from this time last year. And two, as we've reported, DOGE's savings tracker on their website is riddled with errors, inaccuracies and opaque methodology.” www.npr.org/transcripts/...

What has DOGE done in Trump's first 100 days?
One hundred days into President Trump's second term, DOGE hasn't delivered on its promised savings, efficiency or transparency in meaningful ways. But it has amassed unprecedented power over data.

They're threatening to gut Meals on Wheels also (from an article in today's Guardian). So pretty sure they don't care about keeping the elderly safe and alive. But they do care about billionaires getting their tax cuts.

Not an economist, so am puzzled that the stock market and broader economy aren't doing worse. With the chaos of tariffs, job losses, and threats to medicaid, medicare, and social security, it seems like you'd have to be super-rich or not paying attention to be spending & investing as usual.

LfromMN @lfrommn.bsky.social · 13/03/2025
Wow--they're really going after our social security and medicare. How many people need to die for the billionaires to finally have enough billions? (That's a trick question. They will never stop thinking they need and deserve more money).

The media isn't going to get the word out, so we need to say it. The economy is hurting because: *tariff chaos *federal job cut/funding chaos *regular people are starting to spend less due to fear of losing their jobs, health care, and retirement $. *zero action to help anyone but billionaires

It can't prevent weather but science can: *alert air traffic to hazardous wind shear or icing conditions *give day(s) to prepare for winds/floods *give ~ minutes to hours to escape a tsunami *inform farmers to irrigation needs & freezes Reckless cuts waste money and lives.

This is so big that their brains are short-circuiting? Hard to accept, but this chaos is now our country. GOP should be getting squirrelly about the rabid DOGY. Their base are getting hammered by these sloppy cuts. And some of those betrayed base are scary folks.
