A great action picture of John Wark taken by Skapti Hallgrímsson. The Glasgow-born striker was on fire when Liverpool took on Lech Poznań at Anfield on 3 October 1984, scoring a hat-trick in a 4-0 win, as the Reds advanced to the European Cup 2nd round (5-0 on aggregate).

A picture I took before Liverpool FC - Man City on 3 October 2021. The Kop paid a great tribute to Sir Roger Hunt. After a goalless first half, Sadio Mane put us 1-0 up. Phil Foden equalised, but Mohamed Salah made it 2-1 with a brilliant goal, later voted the Premier League Goal of the Season! 1/2

Today we remember Ephraim Longworth, a right-back who spent 18 years at Liverpool FC, won the First Division twice, made 370 appearances - all this without scoring a single goal (are you watching, Joe Gomez?)! Ephraim was born in Halliwell, Bolton on 2 October 1887, that is 139 years ago to the day.
