The thing I’d do is more switching between kid and adult link instantly to complete certain challenges. Like maybe some version of the magic mirror from LTTP as an item. You don’t get it until just before Ganon’s castle, but there’s fun replay value in using it after you beat the game.

Like I’m not saying we need 3 new dungeons and also if you enter a cheat code you get to explore part of Termina (though a character in the Lost Woods alluding to its existence would be a cool reference). But there’s ways to thoughtfully add to this game.

I think the physical limitations of the cartridge back in the day were, on balance, a good thing because they forced devs to get creative and make choices. But 30 years later, you have zero technological limitations, it’s baffling Miyamoto doesnt want to do his own director’s cut version.

I don’t see the appeal of an OOT remake without a playable Light Temple or other cut beta areas. If you’re not fulfilling the wish of every 90s kid to see the GameFaqs hoaxes they wasted hours on actually come to life, what’s the point?

“Why are the kids suddenly protesting a speaker who calls Islam a death cult being on their campus rather than engaging in a debate?” Because we’ve reached a point where enough kids are either Muslim or have Muslim friends, and they don’t want to fucking debate it.

My take on Twitter is as follows: It was incredibly important during a once-in-a-century pandemic and a simultaneous once-in-a-century social justice movement, for the world and for me personally. My mental health is much better because Elon destroyed it shortly thereafter, the world is not.

Movements are supposed to have different messages for different audiences. The right understands this, lefties/libs either don’t or think it’s disingenuous.

The reason I don’t get sidetracked on lib vs leftist discourse is because both do things. Marriage equality was obtained by some people saying, “This won’t lead to children’s books about two daddies,” and other people saying, “Fuck that, we need educate children so they don’t grow up to be bigots.”

One thing I feel like every piece of popular media does so badly is paint a picture where if you ever have a whiff of the substance you went to treatment for, you’re suddenly an out-of-control “addict” again and all of your progress is gone. I need to read your book, I’d imagine it dispels this.

Also, you could prevent most baldness if every 18-year-old man’s GP was like, “Hey, unless your family are all Norwood 1s, you should consider starting finasteride to preserve your hairline.” We don’t because of a few anecdotes of persistent ED which weren’t even necessarily caused by the drug.

Something I think about a lot. No, we don’t have free will in the literal biological sense. But nihilism isn’t the logical next step from that. One person who is driven to not do harm because of their genetics and environment can help create an environment that leads fewer people to do harm.

IMO, ideological voters aren’t known for leaving big ticket races blank, they want agency. A write-in campaign or not having a top-two system and a viable indie/green on the ballot could’ve created this problem for her, but neither of those are the case.

I think for the dudes who organize these parties, absolutely. I think there’s guys going to these parties that do want genuinely sex rather than control and haven’t unpacked the absolute nonsense that patriarchy has done to them. Not that this excuses their behavior.

I think this country is about to sleepwalk its way into an incredibly lopsided midterm with a large number of Trump voters just opting out of the process because they don’t trust anybody anymore. The question becomes how do you build on that so it lasts for more than one cycle. See below.

I'm really glad that Code Switch included this part of my interview, because I think these are the points that so often get lost in the discussion of trans panic and why the WNBA might be an ideal target for those anti-trans groups to latch onto. www.npr.org/2026/09/15/n...
We're talking about actual bigotry and the belief that this group of people shouldn't have, like, the same human rights as another group. It legitimizes them. And so the WNBA is a big platform for them to be able to do that. But I think what's actually really insidious about being the target is that transphobia is rooted in white supremacist ideas of who is allowed to be a woman and what a woman should look like. Those beliefs have, you know, negatively impacted Black and brown and non-Western women throughout history.

So what you have is a league in the WNBA that is full of Black women, 7-foot-tall women, masculine women, women who don't fit kind of the traditional markers of conventional white Western ideas of womanhood. And so I don't think it's surprising that transphobic ideas around the acceptable kind of woman are coming and impacting this league.

And I think the last piece that I will say is, I think, in some ways, the lack of visibility that the league had for a lot of years really protected it. Like, it wasn't as successful as it should have been because of racism and homophobia and misogyny. And once it becomes successful, the flip side of that is it really does become a different kind of victim of those ideas. And the fact that you have a league that is all women, predominantly Black women, largely queer women who have been successful and they don't need men to do it, and their product is not necessarily for men. I think that's a threat to the status quo. And so it's not just about protecting women's sports. It's actually about dismantling them from the inside.

LGW says: "It's unclear what impact withholding or releasing these records would have." No, it's not. If a parent is on trial for beating their child when they get detention, it's VERY BAD to have a law on the books that says schools are required to tell said parent when their kid gets detention. /2
As for a child’s “disciplinary records” it is unclear what the impactwould be of withholding or alternatively providing such records when a parent is the subjectof investigation for abuse or neglect. If there were a specific reason for withholding thatinformation from a parent under investigation, presumably the school or other interestedparties could seek a court order restraining the release

The wild thing that you won't quite glean from this story unless you read the links is that Let's Go Washington's own legal analysis says that parents on trial for abusing their own kids will have access to their disciplinary records, unless the school gets a court order to prevent it. /1

LMAO it’s so true. One of the reasons I’m nominally hopeful for the future is that people are going to realize, “Wait haven’t we already banned trans people from sports, why the fuck are they still talking about it?”

I came out late 2021 just as a media obsession with a trans woman doing well at swimming was about to kick the anti-trans panic into high gear in the US. It’s now a much harsher world than the one I thought I was coming out to, but I wouldn’t do anything differently.

One thing that really pisses me off is that I genuinely think, “No, government needs to get the fuck out peoples’ health care decisions and let parents and doctors decide,” would actually win you more votes in Texas than capitulating on this. This is a different issue than sports.

I agree it’s real, but scolding people does not solve the problem. It’s the responsibility of candidates to earn peoples’ votes, not the other way around. Hillary could’ve, for example, added single-payer to her platform after the primary, saying, “Bernie showed this has broad support, let’s do it!”

I broadly agree, except for the part where Talarico’s odds are a coin flip, they’re less than that. He’s the 52nd or maybe 53rd Senator if the wave is big enough. Peltola and Brown are the ones who have demonstrated they have the juice under the right conditions to get us to 51.

Democracy isn't the thing that gets normie voters' attention, true. But you still need to message on it and still move the goddamn Overton Window so we can actually do something about it once in power. That's not primarily the job of aspiring backbenchers, it's the job of leaders.
