A Jewish practice that I strongly recommend, from now through Yom Kippur (or even through Simchat Torah), is saying "Happy Holidays" to random unsuspecting people in stores and public spaces. Never boring, usually great, always a thought-provoker.

It’s honestly incredible that two brothers can achieve global stardom like this. I’m sure to their mom and dad it feels like just yesterday they were just Tom and Erling, getting up to mischief. Now one is the face of Spider-Man while the other is a star Norwegian striker. Amazing!

I’d love us to talk about Lindsey Graham being terrible more than we talk about him maybe being gay? There’s a lot to say about how much evil he did! Sure, say he contributed to Homophobia as part of it in ways that were potentially hypocritical! But “Lol he secretly liked DUDES” isn’t a mic drop.

It’s going to be very confusing when people look back one day at Texas very loudly saying “we are going to teach Christianity in our public schools,” and folks notice “huh, American Jewish institutions were much less concerned about that than they were that Zohran Mamdani called AIPAC ‘monsters.’”

Lex Rofeberg @lexaphus.bsky.social · 23/06/2026
It's good that Zohran Mamdani calls AIPAC's support for the death of Palestinian children "monstrous." If you oppose the death and starvation of children, I do not understand holding a position of "It's more dangerous to call AIPAC 'monstrous' than it is to not-call AIPAC sufficiently monstrous."

For 1 month anytime somebody says they’re going to “the cape,” referring to Cape Cod or Cape May or whatever, I’m going to respond with “Oh wow, Cape Verde? Amazing! Vozinha was awesome in goal.”

If all the discourse about antisemitism at Harvard had actually been about antisemitism at Harvard (as opposed to pro-Palestine protesters -- many of them Jews), it would probably matter to more people that Harvard is decimating the study of Yiddish on its campus. (1) saveharvardyiddish.org

The problem with artificial intelligence, that people don't talk enough about, is how I can no longer refer to Allen Iverson as AI without it being very confusing to people.

Deborah Lipstadt's "clarification." If you're saying "What's the problem? I referred to a white Christian 19-year-old's antisemitism as being part of 'intifada' and that's logical actually"... Maybe just take a step back from participating in conversations about antisemitism? You're not helping.

It makes Jews much less safe when we presume all antisemitism comes from Muslims, and imply it couldn’t possibly be Christians. Sincerely, A Jew who lived in Jackson, loved living there, wore a yarmulke every day, and is unsurprised a white, religious Christian man set fire to the synagogue there

An under-discussed piece of how we're failing to clearly oppose the genocide of Palestinians (a Jewish "our" and also a broader American "our"), is how decades of knee-jerk "both-ands" and "multiple truths" in all respects have made us unable to process one group intentionally destroying another.

I did not think Cuomo would be the one to name that he might’ve lost the overall Jewish vote to Mamdani in the primary, due to all the Jews on the left who are pro-Palestine and socialist, but as someone who’s Jewish, pro-Palestine, and socialist — it’s a fun listen! forward.com/fast-forward...

Thank goodness that the ADL calmed us all down less than 6 months ago, reminding us it’s silly to presume that Elon Musk’s gesture was anything other than an “awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm,” and centrists shook their finger at us wacky leftists who thought maybe he kinda likes Nazis!

Oh sure ya the Brooklyn Nets just drafted two Jews — both Israeli citizens — with back to back 1st round picks. I’m sure New York and my fellow Jews will be very normal about this. Also, lol that this is not close to being the biggest New York story related to Jews today.

I am filled with joy about Zohran’s primary victory! Many of my grandparents and great-grandparents were Jewish Socialists — some in New York City. I think their emotion would also be joy. I’m sick of distillations of Jewishness, past and present, that make this feel surprising. It’s very common.

It's horrific that in our world "Palestinian children deserve to eat" is seen as "controversial." That Jewish orgs need to debate whether it's "mission-aligned" to sign onto that statement. Not complicated! Sign on! Individuals: www.foodaidforgaza.org Jewish Orgs: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

"Israeli bombs do not distinguish between Hamas supporters and the thousands of Palestinians in Gaza who have turned out to protest Hamas. And the use of mass starvation as a military tactic? This is beyond inhuman. It is genocide." Important piece from @jaymichaelson.bsky.social.
Image of a Forward article by Jay Michaelson, with the headline "I supported Israel's actions in Gaza in October 2023 -- not anymore" and the sub-header "Critics were wrong that Israel's 2023 actions constituted genocide -- but they are right in 2025."

Today is Tuesday. A good day for Jewish institutions, with decades of fear-mongering campaigns, to say: "We didn't realize our work to mark campus activism as antisemitic would contribute to the deportation of pro-Palestine students. We will do everything we can to undo the damage we've done."

Here's a non-exhaustive list of terminated Jewish Studies NEH grants. To the rooftops: there's no sliver of a goal of "fighting antisemitism" when it comes to the decimation of higher ed. They're not "trying to fight antisemitism," but doing it inexpertly. "Combating antisemitism" is fully pretext.
Image, entitled "NEH Grants 2025"

Terminated Awards Filtered: 9
Total Value: $2,458,916

Below, 9 projects with the word "Jewish" in the title. Sample titles include "In the Shadow of the Holocaust" and "Reimagining Jewish Life in the Modern Middle East, 1800-Present."

Projects are from states all around the country.

Lots of "Criticism of Israel is not necessarily antisemitic" right now. True! It's also "don't think of an elephant." It still groups criticism-of-Israel with possible-antisemitism, without doing so for support-of-Israel. We should say "Support for Israel is not necessarily antisemitic" as well.

My new favorite video is Charlie Kirk trying to do a mic-drop about how much he knows about Judaism, only to break down the Tanakh as - Torah (correct) - "Nevilim" (not correct -- Prophets = "N'vi'im") and, not a joke... - "Kvetchim" (not correct -- Writings = "Ketuvim" -- but this is amazing).

This goes viral every once in a while. But the wild thing about it isn't "LOL, funny that pdf comes off as if it's a religion," but rather "No PDF starts as a PDF. So in this framework, we all have our religious-identities not because we're born that way, but because we 'convert' to them."

Conservative Christians are pushing themselves to the front of the fight against antisemitism and claiming, in essence, to be better Jews than the Jews themselves.

If you oppose the conflation of Zionism and Judaism, I do not understand why you would vote for any slate in the World Zionist Congress elections. This is one of the biggest projects perpetuating that conflation. It's a "Zionist" congress, without "Jewish" in its name, where only Jews can vote!

Many of us who have participated in non-violent pro-Palestine work are learning that if we were arrested tomorrow and called "a Hamas supporter" that y'all would believe it. Even if there's no evidence whatsoever. Some of you might follow with "Maybe still don't deport him." Still a wild feeling!
