Feeling pretty today.
A long line of bookshelves runs from the right side of this image toward the vanishing point at the center, interrupted by the front door and window of a small bookshop. Display tables and a sales counter occupy the left side of the photo, and behind said counter is a striking black-and-white drawing of a fanciful pachyderm bearing a gazebo filled with books on its back.

We are honored and amazed to report that Leviathan Bookstore was named a Finalist in St. Louis Magazine's A-List in the category of Best Bookstore for 2026. As the new kid on the block, this result is way beyond our expectation, and it's all thanks to those who voted for us. Thank you, thank you!

One day after seeing Meet Me in St. Louis onstage at the Muny, an early copy of the book arrived from @uchicagopress.bsky.social. Already halfway read; loving it and the foreword by @bcdreyer.social.
The wide stage of the Muny theater in St. Louis’s Forest Park is seen from a middle section seat. Lights are rigged on an overarching scaffold and an illuminated scrim fills the stage, advertising the musical Meet Me in St. Louis.A hand holds an advance reader copy of Sally Benson’s Meet Me in St. Louis, on which the title appears in bold, black, sans-serif letters amid colorful images of paper dolls and their outfits.

Good mail day: A bunch of books from the always worthwhile @leviathanbookstore.bsky.social newsletter. I’m don’t think I would have spied any of these without the newsletter’s recommendation.

Brand-new window display units, more capacious and yet consuming less floor space. Can’t wait to fill ‘em with books!
The front window of a small bookstore is seen from the interior, with the name Leviathan Bookstore on the glass in reversed, hand painted letters. The lower part of the window is covered by a new, wooden, multi-shelved display unit, and in the foreground is a wooden display table with storage below, mounted on wheels and resting in the wooden floor. The new displays are empty of books.

An infographic advertising Moby-Dick at 175, an event featuring Melville scholars Hester Blum and Brian Yothers at Leviathan Bookstore at 7pm on Saturday, August 1 in St. Louis. The smiling faces of the academics appear on the left, and the bright yellow cover of the Oxford World's Classics edition of Moby-Dick, with a blue and gray sea and white whale flukes against the background, appears on the right.

My haul from my first visit to @leviathanbookstore.bsky.social . I went to buy @devintoshea.bsky.social ‘s new book, but it is impossible to visit such a bookstore and only get one book.
A stack of three books in focus in the foreground. In the background, an out of focus greyhound, lying on a rug in a sitting room.

The books are:

1. Return of the Ancients, Unruly Tales of the Mythological Weird

2. Context Collapse by Ryan Ruby

3. The Veiled Prophet by Devin Thomas O’Shea
