Two main problems to solve to get this done "cleanly" I'll need to go through all of the dumped text by hand to try to pick out the hex values for each portrait, which will probably take a while.

That flag (as highlighted in the example), seems to control what sprite will get displayed on screen, and seems to only be updated if another one gets written. In the example, the flag, normally set to 37, displays Angie's angry face, instead displays her neutral face when set to 33.

Somehow, some wires got crossed, and one of Derek's "extra" sprites, not normally accessible in the game was displayed. Looking through and comparing that modified file with the original, there is a flag just before dialogue starts in some instances.

In Donkey Kong 64, the Giant Spider miniboss can only be fought once. Modifying the game to fight it a second time makes it unceremoniously explode. While this appears to be a glitch, examining the code reveals it was actually deliberately added for the developers' own amusement.

Super Mario Strikers and Mario Strikers Charged contain a threatening comment in the code for the shot accuracy variable: "DO NOT TOUCH THIS NUMBER MIKE INGLEHART". Ironically, the number has in fact been touched, since it was cut in half between the two games.

The kiosk demo of Mario Kart DS contained "Flesh Trucks" due to a spelling error. While the error was fixed in the final version, looking at the preview image for GCN Mushroom Bridge very closely shows that the truck still has an L. As such, the memory of the Flesh Truck remains.

Backend fun is mostly done. Checks have been put in place to make sure file size remains the same, at least until work is done to rewrite the FAT to avoid resizing issues. Only github related fun remains

More work done on the text editor, temporary names have been added in, only displaying ingame text files, and choosing the ROM to load through a dialogue option is also done. Padding on save, adding in the actual level names & clean up and correct attributions where needed are remaining

Now have similar behaviour to Tinke 🎉. Can load text files straight from the ROM. This was done by reading through both gbatek's documentation & Tinke's implementation to understand how the offsets work. Next up is displaying only the text files to avoid being able to decode the other ones.

In Diddy Kong Racing DS, the message when connection is lost during Download Play is "LOST ALL CHILDREN". The cartridge is internally called a "parent" and the downloaded instances its "children". While this would make sense to the developers, it has the potential to confuse or scare players.
