This is an argument I've never understood. Not only are Russian and Chinese parts and munitions not compatible with Israeli weapons systems, but what would make supporting Israel such an enticing prospect to a country that already has allies in the region. Allies that Israel is opposed to.

Exactly. The default assumption should be "Palestine gets the entirety of the OPT". If Israel and Palestine want to negotiate mutually beneficial land swaps, good for them, but one can't simply *assume* that Israel gets to keep the large settlement blocs simply because they settled them so heavily.

There's a guy (ostensibly a liberal) on this site vehemently arguing that this is fake lol. If you've followed events in Gaza over the last 3 years, you'll know that this is exactly how much of the territory now looks. Large parts of it (e.g. Rafah) are even worse, i.e. completely flattened.

I mean, the occupation and the settlements go back to the Labour government of the late 1960s. The ethnic cleansing of the Nakba took place under a Labour government in 1948. I'm thinking Israel's problems are pretty deeply rooted and not particularly dependent on which party is in government.

East Prussia and what became the "new territories" of Poland had overwhelming ethnic German majorities. That's where most of the ethnic 13m Germans were expelled from. It wasn't because these were mixed areas, it was mainly because the USSR wanted to expand its borders.

The part of the post-war settlement that I think was deeply immoral was the expulsion of around 13 million Germans from territories that was annexed to Poland and Russia, where they had formed a majority of the population for hundreds of years.

Not a bad solution for Israel, tbh. Dismantle the state, replace with a new state that has equality codified in its constitution. That would be a fundamentally different state, though, given what the State of Israel is today.
