A nice coincidence to be gendered correctly in International Lesbian Day, and by pharmacists, too.

There are so many community cops on social media. They aren't even being paid to do their pathetic work.

Really unfortunate timing to have a prime minister who, like a mercenary targeting social safety nets, cooperates closely with Smith. And, as usual, "biological" here is both redundant and a euphemism for "real" or "true" and not at all based in scientific concensus, but rather is firmly against it.

Out for a walk earlier and it was nice to see a few people have already put up Hallowe'en decorations, like last year. Might as well, given how soon Christ's Mass marketing will also begin.

A little trip down a very influential memory lane.

My 9 Games

Othello (1986) - One of the hardest strategy games, but very easy to learn.
Super Metroid (1994) - Amazing soundtrack and of course iconic Samus had a major influence on me post game credits.
Castlevania Legends (1997) - Though it was for the Gameboy, and the story was removed from canon, Sonia made quite an impression on me at the time.
Aliens vs. Predator (1998) - The only game I can recall guaranteeing to send you a new pair of underwear because it was so scary.
Vagrant Story (2000) - My favorite RPG, a true masterpiece with an incredible soundtrack and atmosphere.
Fear Effect (2000) - A cinematic action/survival horror comedy, amazingly innovative.
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem (2002) - Breaking the 4th wall for fun, also very innovative storytelling.
Bloodrayne (2002) - Slicing up Nazis as a super hot vampire lady? Can't go wrong, especially when voiced by the inimitable Laura Bailey.
Silent Hill 3 (2003) - Another beautifully dark story, pushing the PS2 hardware to its limit and of course an excellent soundtrack and design.

Really enjoying the new (last?) Godflesh album. Lots of grit, and in places reminds me of dark ambient stuff I first heard off of the Cold Meat Industry label almost 25 years ago.

Because they have not come for you (yet) does not mean they have failed. Fascism is not an equally distributed political project of harm(s). It is a continuous and discontinuous political project unfolding and situational political violences of all sorts. And what it leaves in place after matters.

That is to say, I'm not on any meds but it's a bit like believing you never have to go to the doctor in that you'll never know if you actually need one if you don't ever go. So, I'm curious to know if I should be on medication, but then cost and time and lack of urgency makes it a very low priority.

I guess it depends on your baseline and how you relate to your support network, though it would be nice as a reprieve. Most people who go unmedicated still seem to have harmful coping mechanisms or patterns, but if you happen to have few or weak neuroses and no support it might pass as stability.

Seems unlikely. There might be new research down the road that could change standards but for now maintaining a consistent therapeutic range by what you're doing now is probably best.

A couple of years ago I tried something like this, along with alternating my E dosage so that it resembled typical fluctuations of a cycle (lowering E while increasing prog, then increasing E and lowering prog over the course of a few weeks for a few months), and didn't notice much of a difference.

Does a "user" have to pay first, what about applications that are programmed to prompt each other, and does a "message" mean a non-autocompleted sentence? Does it exclude corrections or multiples? It's all very murky to me.

000

The Tomb Raider of Ligeia @lethean.northsky.social · 09/09/2026

For example, "By July 2025, 18 billion messages were being sent each week by 700 million users, representing around 10% of the global adult population" from "How People Use ChatGPT" (Sept 2025) a million "users" could send 17,000 messages, while 699 million could send the remaining 1-2.

The Tomb Raider of Ligeia @lethean.northsky.social · 09/09/2026

This is really interesting researh, though I'm very curious as to how the "used by over a billion people globally" is actually calculated. "Used" and "user" seem to lack clear definitions and I'm also not sure there's a distinction between a living person or automated prompters working behind VPNs.

Makes perfect sense that a guy deeply invested in race science would pair well with the transmisic crowd since it would only take a baby step for them to conclude that trans people are a distinct race to also be mitigated.

"A lot of initial reports on the album appear to highlight Justin’s career as Godflesh, whereas Phoebe Bridgers approached Justin due to her love of his jesu project, and it is in this capacity that Justin appears on 2 songs on this album." Pleasantly but not very surprising.

Daylight Dies, a truly amazing melancholic death metal band, disbanded yesterday, but their albums will continue to be in rotation for me. Maybe one of the best metal bands to lyrically ever do it.

Most people think about the canary in the coal mine thing as the canary reporting an environmental danger to miners through the fact of its death. Essentially, when the canaries die, the miners come to recognize the danger. That's not the whole story and understanding the whole story has value.

An interesting note in the "limitations" part of this study is that those assigned female at birth tend to start puberty earlier, while there seems to be slightly higher rates of discrimination for trans feminine people, but the rate of regret remains quite low (~3%). A good study overall, I think.

So strange to think that the main reason my early dating experiences with other women didn't last very long was actually because they were straight. If I had lucked into dating a closeted lesbian that could have made for quite a plot twist both ways.

Nicholas Brendon’s is the sixth death of a major The WB cast member since 2024. These deaths come when there is also a measurable increase in mortality in the age cohort that made up much of Buffy’s original audience, and the WB era generally... But why? www.thecanary.co/global/world...

Buffy’s Nicholas Brendon’s death is the sixth of The WB stars since 2024

Nicholas Brendon tragically joins a growing list of The WB stars dying young. But why is this happening post-pandemic?

If it becomes too expensive for most people to drive or fly places, or for small businesses to pay for shipping costs, etc., how long will working from home and travelling less contribute to preservation of fuels if the cost of living rises for everyone anyway?

"Energy commissioner says the oil crisis triggered by Iran war will bring lengthy upheaval, in a speech reminiscent of the Covid pandemic." Just a few days ago I was thinking about what this lockdown might look like considering how poorly many responded to the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.
