A little trip down a very influential memory lane.
My 9 Games

Othello (1986) - One of the hardest strategy games, but very easy to learn.
Super Metroid (1994) - Amazing soundtrack and of course iconic Samus had a major influence on me post game credits.
Castlevania Legends (1997) - Though it was for the Gameboy, and the story was removed from canon, Sonia made quite an impression on me at the time.
Aliens vs. Predator (1998) - The only game I can recall guaranteeing to send you a new pair of underwear because it was so scary.
Vagrant Story (2000) - My favorite RPG, a true masterpiece with an incredible soundtrack and atmosphere.
Fear Effect (2000) - A cinematic action/survival horror comedy, amazingly innovative.
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem (2002) - Breaking the 4th wall for fun, also very innovative storytelling.
Bloodrayne (2002) - Slicing up Nazis as a super hot vampire lady? Can't go wrong, especially when voiced by the inimitable Laura Bailey.
Silent Hill 3 (2003) - Another beautifully dark story, pushing the PS2 hardware to its limit and of course an excellent soundtrack and design.

Warlock

The warlock is a wielder of eldritch power, making pacts with otherworldly entities in exchange for arcane abilities. They embody intrigue, ambition, and a hint of darkness. Unlike other spellcasters who derive their magic from study or innate talent, warlocks forge a pact with a powerful being—often an otherworldly patron such as a fiend, fey, or celestial. This pact grants them access to potent magic beyond mortal comprehension. Warlocks are often enigmatic figures, their motivations shrouded in mystery as they navigate the intricate web of their patron's desires. While some embrace the darkness of their patrons, others seek to subvert their influence or even harness it for their own ends. Despite their pact-bound powers, warlocks often face moral dilemmas, torn between loyalty to their patron and their own sense of morality. In essence, the warlock is a complex figure, walking a precarious line between power and peril in their pursuit of arcane mastery.

Hmm, not the A+ I was expecting. Guess I have some work to do, although the tie between jock and nerd is nice to see.
Jock-Nerd/Prep-Goth Test Result:

A 21x21 grid shows Prep and Goth on the left and right axis respectively, as well as Nerd and Jock on the top and bottom. A dot on the 20th sqaure on the right and 11th from the top marks the result as True Goth.

"You are 82.7% Goth, tied between Jock and Nerd, placing you in the True Goth category."

Another grid shows all of the placements, from left to right and top to bottom, "Baller, True Jock, Punk, True Prep, Normie, True Goth, Prep Nerd, True Nerd, LARP".

"Tue Goths are known for their love of dark and brooding themes, as well as for their distinctive, alternative fashion styles. Goths also tend to have a broader interest in themes such as death, the supernatural, and the occult. This often leads to a fascination with horror movies, gothic literature, and dark, atmospheric spaces such as graveyards and ruined buildings."

Merely five hours away form its peak fullness and hidden behind an ashen haze, but the strawberry moon is looking very nice tonight in eastern Canada.
A nearly full strawberry moon obscured by a thin amount of smoke in the atmosphere hovering over coniferous trees and a power line, shot late at night.

Of the few times I've done this over the years, I always end up with either the sexy, mysterious ass-kicker or the stoic psychiatrist-type character. Does this mean I should join a gang and offer counselling on the side? Is that what I ought to be doing with my life?
The best match between the self assessment you provided and the profile of a fictional character as rated by other people who have taken this survey is the character Trinity (The Matrix) - 91% match

Playing around with this, I'm really looking forward to having gray hair in my near future.
A "Gravity Falls" style Picrew by DrownInNoodles of an upper body shot of myself as a pale white trans woman with plum eyeshadow, deep red and glossy lip color and gray yet sort of desaturated dark lavender hair. Clothing is of a dark, biker-style jacket and t-shirt with a cartoonish human skull on it, a black choker, and fingerless forearm warmers. Facial experssion is serious-looking and focused, with my right hand open in a reserved greeting. The setting is in a dim, violet-toned forest, maybe in the evening or early morning.

Also interesting to see I landed on more progressive and left than any party, which I suppose is attributed to agreeing on more support for people with in/visible or perceived disabilities, though the LPC is definitely more socially conservative and economically to the right in practice than speech.
"Your fit in the political landscape"
This chart shows how you compare with the parties in terms of ideology.

A 6x6 grid chart shows the PPC on the very bottom right square as more socially conservative and economically right, with the CPC two squares left and one up from them.
Near the center is the LPC, while the NDP and GPC are both in the very top left placement to show they're more socially progressive and economically left.
Another marker referring to my results that says "you" is also in the top left, but a bit further up and left than both the NDP and GPC.

What an interesting question given that none of the candidates specifically mentioned trans people. It was also funny to recently see a Liberal Party TV ad with the word "divided" spelled incorrectly as "dvivided", because apparently quality control couldn't be bothered to catch something like that.
CBC News Vote Compass policy question 18/30:

"Transgender women should be able to compete in women's sporting leagues."

After I saw "Mulholland Drive" the first time on VHS, I immediately rewound the tape and watched it again. There was so much meaning and cryptic beauty to David's work, truly one of the best minds to have the heart to explore the light that flickers from a sincere self and the worlds we all reflect.
A screenshot from "Mulholland Drive" showing Betty, played by Naomi Watts, and Rita, played by Laura Herring, sitting on a couch, holding each other's hands, looking into each other's eyes. Betty, on the left, is leaning forward a bit in a reassuring manner, and Rita, on the right, seems to have a tense look of cautious longing in her eyes. In the background, a white lampshade, pink flowers, and a very nice-looking bookcase can be seen, along with small portraits of unknown people and a blurry painting of a woman that sort of resembles Vermeer's "Girl with a Pearl Earring".

Playing around with this brought back some prominent memories of just how long ago I've been thinking of transitioning. Sonia Belmont was in a '98 Nintendo Power magazine that I once used for a reference drawing, because, for a reason unknown at the time, I saw something of myself in her appearance.

Well, this is a little confusing (and a bit funny). Does this mean the warning about alienation being rooted in insecurity or dominance is balanced out because I already prefer solitude? Is that how I keep my "fatale" powers in check? 🤔
Toxic Femininity Test

Results:
Femme Fatale 62.5%
Mean Girl 45%
Devouring Mother 37%
Eternal Daughter 0%

The Femme Fatale archetype embodies manipulative seduction, using her charm, beauty, and allure to control or exploit others, particularly men. She thrives on the power dynamics of attraction, wielding her sexuality as a tool for personal gain or influence. While confident and enigmatic, the Femme Fatale often conceals ulterior motives, such as financial benefit, revenge, or validation. This archetype perpetuates the stereotype that women’s primary source of power lies in their physical appeal, overshadowing intellect, or genuine connection. Rooted in insecurity or a need for dominance, her manipulations often lead to strained relationships and mistrust. Ultimately, the Femme Fatale may alienate herself from authentic intimacy as her identity becomes tied to deception and surface-level interactions.

In honor of pride month (and in relation to a thread I saw earlier) the belief of a divine spark needing a receptacle/womb persisted for a long time through interesting interpretations of lesbian sex as written in a poem by Étienne de Fougères in the 12thC. From Sahar Amer's "Crossing Borders":
This is how Etienne depicts the lesbian in his Livre des manières:

De bel pechié n'est pas mervielle,
Des que Nature le consielle,
Mes qui de lei pechié s'esvieille
Encontre Nature teseille.

There's nothing surprising about the "beautiful sin"
When nature prompts it,
But whosoever is awakened by the "vile sin"
Is going against nature.Celui deit l'en chiens hüer,
Pieres et bastons estrüer;
Torchon li devreit [l'en] rüer
Et con autres gueignons tüer.

Ces dames ont trové i jeu:
O dos trutennes funt un eu,
Sarqueu hurtent contre sarqueu
San focil escoent lor feu.

Ne joent pas a piquenpance,
A pliens escuz joignent sanz lance

Et se meinent plus que le trot;
A l'escremie del jambot

One must pursue [him] with dogs,
Throw[ing] stones and sticks;
One should smite him with blows
And kill him like any other cur.

These ladies have made up a game:
With two bits of nonsense they make nothing;
They bang coffin against coffin,
Without a poker to stir up their fire.

They don't play at "poke in the paunch"
But join shield to shield without a lance.
They have no concern for a beam in their scales,S'entrepaient vilment l'escot

Il ne sunt pas totes d'un molle:
L'un [e] s'esteit et l'autre crosle,
L'un [e] fet coc et l'autre polle
Et chascune meine son rossle.
(stanzas 275-81)

Nor a handle in their mold.

Out of water they fish for turbot
And they have no need for a rod.
They don't bother with a pestle in their mortar
Nor a fulcrum in their see-saw.

In twos they do their lowlife jousting
And they ride to it with all their might;
At the game of thigh-fencing
They pay most basely each other's share.

They're not all from the same mold:
One lies still and the other grinds away,
One plays the cock and the other the hen,
And each one plays her role.Paradoxically, and as Robert Clark has accurately observed, what predominates in these seven stanzas on lesbian sexual practices is "the ever-present but always absent phallus": the absence of any "lance", or its multiple synonyms in the text, "poker", "pointer", "handle", "rod", "pestle", "fulcrum." Throughout these stanzas, therefore, and just as the authors of the Yde and Olive stories do one and two centuries later, Etienne de Fougères attributes to lesbians a phallocentric sexuality. In this text, lesbian sexual acts are understood in terms of heterosexual relations, which the two women are presumably attempting to replicate.

Looks like they're really going for it, and apparently will also be able to juggle all the wildfire and drought emergencies on the way this year. edmontonjournal.com/news/politic...
It’s modelled after Quebec’s Act Respecting the Ministère du conseil executif, and asserts that any new, amended, or renewed agreement between Ottawa and a provincial entity that comes without provincial approval will be deemed invalid by the Alberta government.

Smith said the move will ensure federal funding is aligned with provincial priorities, listing net zero housing, net zero electricity, and safe supply as the most prominent examples.

“We’re not going to allow the federal government to come in and work directly with the provincial entity that we give a regulated mandate to and circumvent the things we want to do,” she said in portraying the bill as “taking back control” of federal agreements.

“We know the federal government, on certain issues, has a diametrically opposed view to what it is we want to do.”

Smith went on to accuse the federal government of imposing “an ideological agenda” while insisting her government is not doing the same.“When we do spending, it doesn’t have an ideological tinge to it.”

Entities that will be affected by the bill, as it’s currently drafted, include:

    Municipalities
    Education boards
    Post-secondary institutions
    Regional health authorities
    Covenant Health
    Public agencies
    Crown-controlled organizations

It's way off about tradition and spot on about being strong, into contact sports and especially intimidating (which has actually been like a curse for most of my life), but other than that I am, unfortunately, terrible with kids. So, accurate enough, like most of these kinds of quizzes.
Your results: Lt. Worf!
jesus christ. you're very serious and like to follow tradition and whatever rules are set, but you'd ignore those rules to protect the people you love. family and culture means a lot to you, and those who disrespect your philosophies and traditions are better off dead. you're physically strong and probably like martial arts or boxing or other contact sports. despite often being intimidating you can be kind, and that's what matters most. you're also terrible with kids, sorry.

Something I always come back to regarding social media is the "majority illusion", a type of selection bias that can, for example, make things popular people say appear more relevant than they actually are, or even true. arxiv.org/pdf/1506.030...
FIG. 1. An illustration of the “majority illusion” paradox. The two networks are identical, except for which three nodes are colored. These are the “active” nodes and the rest are “inactive.” In the network on the left, all “inactive” nodes observe that at least half of their neighbors are “active,” while in the network on the right, no “inactive” node makes this observation.III. DISCUSSION

Local prevalence of some attribute among a node’s network neighbors can be very different from its global prevalence, creating an illusion that the attribute is far more common than it actually is. In a social network, this illusion may cause people to reach wrong conclusions about how common a behavior is, leading them to accept as a norm a behavior that is globally rare. This may explain how global outbreaks can be triggered by very few initial adopters, and why people overestimate how much their friends engage in risky behaviors, such as alcohol and drug use.
We quantified this paradox, which we call the “majority illusion”, and studied its dependence on network structure and attribute configuration. As in the friendship paradox [13, 14, 19, 23], “majority illusion” can ultimately be traced to the power of high degree nodes to skew the observations of many others. This is because such nodes are overrepresented in the local neighborhoods of other nodes. This, by itself is not surprising, given than high degree nodes are expected to have more influence and are often targeted by influence maximization algorithms [21]. However, the ability of high degree nodes to bias the perceptions of others depends on other aspects of network structure. Specifically, we showed that the paradox is much stronger in disassortative networks, where high degree nodes tend to link to low degree nodes. In other words, given the same degree distribution, the high degree nodes in a disassortative network will have greater power to skew the observations of others than those in an assortative network. This suggests that some network structures are more
susceptible than others to influence manipulation and the spread of external shocks [32]. Furthermore, small changes in network topology, assortativity and degree–attribute correlation may further exacerbate the paradox even when there are no actual changes in the distribution of the attribute. This may explain the apparently sudden shifts in public attitudes witnessed during the Arab Spring and on the question of gay marriage.
The “majority illusion” is an example of class size bias effect. When sampling data to estimate average class or event size, more popular classes and events will be overrepresented in the sample, biasing estimates of their average size [15]. Thus, the average class size that students experience at college is larger than the college’s average class size. Similarly, people experience highways, restaurants, and events to be more crowded than they normally are. In networks, sampling bias affects estimates of network structure, including its degree distribution [1, 18]. Our work suggests that network bias also affects an individual’s local perceptions and the collective social phenomena that emerge.

I mean, if you just look at how the language of anti-trans groups works to denounce agency by altering the grammar of what they hear so that it sounds like an imposition and an affront to rationality, it's pretty clear (to me, anyway) they're in favor of gender, just an either/or kind.
Gender Grammar
Problem - Correction - Reason
"transgendered" (adjective) - transgender - Only adjectives that are derived from nouns and/or verbs (unlike transgender) end in "ed".
"intersexed" - intersex - Only adjectives that are derived from nouns and/or verbs (unlike transgender) end in "ed".
"trangendered" (verb) - transition - Only verbs can have "ed" added onto the end of the word to become a participle. Transgender is an adjective, not a verb. One does not "transgender", they transition.
"a transgender", "transgenders" - a transgender person, transgender people - Transgender is not a noun. "Jake is a transgender" is not only gramatically incorrect, but cen be offensive.
"sex change", "sex reassignment surgery", "gender reassignemnt surgery" - gender affirming surgery, genital reconstruction surgery, genital reassignment surgery - Surgery does not change one's sex or gender, only genitalia.

Lots of bullshit claims, asserting "biological" as if it's somehow more real than after transition, as well as the "not reversible" nonsense about blockers and HRT, which is somehow a grave concern the day before you're 18 but not after. And it seems she's willing to use the notwithstanding clause.

Once again, it's much better to listen to what a person actually says on camera. On the nurses strike in Québec: "20 patients" is actually "over 20 patients" "It's unacceptable" is actually "It's, uh, not acceptable". I really abhor paring of accuracy, even if editors think it's the same difference.
Quote from ‘It’s not safe’: 80,000 health-care workers in Quebec on strike over working conditions" report By Kalina Laframboise for Global News, Nov 8, 2023:

Rhee says it’s “not abnormal” for an emergency room nurses to have “20 patients under her charge” — forcing some to leave overpacked ERs.

“It’s not safe. Emergency room patients are leaving without being seen or evaluated,” Rhee said. “It’s unacceptable.”

In this "Q&A — Dr. Theresa Tam answers kids’ questions about COVID-19 vaccines" it's claimed that Covid will become less of a threat as it continues to "live with us". But, the consensus points to the fact that new variants are more infectious and compound damage over time, so, no worries, I guess.
Q: Will COVID-19 ever be gone for good?

Because the virus is all over the world and it’s continuing to spread, we expect it to live with us for the foreseeable future. I can’t say if it will ever disappear. But we'll understand it more as the years go by and it will become less of a threat.

It’s actually really incredible. There’s been such an innovation during this pandemic, we’ve never really monitored or studied a virus as close as we have this one. It will help improve our scientific knowledge about other viruses as well.

This question was asked by Wesley Pan, a 14-year-old from Scarborough, Ontario.

So the CPC (conservative in name and word only, by thought and action, fascist) is going to use this as proof that the current government is somehow a threat to children because it protects their right to self-determination and privacy as protected by the 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Response from Scott Moe, Premier of Saskatchewan, Canada, on a decision regarding an injunction issued by Regina Court of King's Bench Justice Michael Megaw:
"Today, I asked the Speaker to recall the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, October 10 to pass legislation to protect parents' rights.
Our government is extremely dismayed by the judicial overreach of the court blocking implementation of the Parental Inclusion and Consent policy - a policy which has the strong support of a majority of Saskatchewan residents, in particular, Saskatchewan parents.
The default position should never be to keep a child's information from their parents.
It is in the best interest of children to ensure parents are included in their children's education, in their classrooms and in all important decisions involving their children.
That is why oiur government will take action to ensure the rights of Saskatchewan parents are protected...and that this policy is implemented by recallingg the Legislative Assembly and using the notwithstanding clause of the Canadian constitution to pass legislation to protect parental rights."
