My mom said, "Of course. No problem. Why do you need the time off?" She cheerily replied, "My husband is speaking at the Klan rally tonight!" My mother gave her every dime she was owed, and told her to get out and never come back. That's 1971. In New Jersey. Just two little anecdotes.

I'm 61 years old. When I was 3, my dad was trying to sell our home in suburban central New Jersey. He showed the home to a Black couple. Next morning, all our garage windows were broken. When I was 6, we had a once-a-week nanny/cleaning lady. One time she asked my folks if she could leave early.

I agree. The merger will end in a spectacular collapse. Also, I thought that those sucka-ass AG's should have forced Warner to divest of everything it gained in the merger with Turner Entertainment back in the 90s before the merger with Paramount was allowed to go through.

Thinking about “AOL Time-Warner” today. Warnermount seems like a doomed endeavor to me. (Good luck getting me to call it Skydance.) I remember when a selzer company bought Universal. And Coca Cola owned Columbia. It’s going to be terrible and thousands will lose jobs. But it’s also doomed.

This should be so obvious that it doesn’t need to be said, but given what kind of weekend it’s been on here, apparently it does: If you don’t want old rapists running the world, in office, in the board room, making decisions for all of us get comfortable with “ruining” young rapists’ lives

I ran into a hella bunch of science fiction and comics fans who espoused "Nazi efficiency" when I first began attending LSU.

10 percent... maybe. Decades ago, my exercise route around the LSU lakes took me past the DKE house. The vulgarities about my ass, crotch crapping, and demands for oral sex were "funny" at first, but after one really crazy day, a voice in my head said, "N***a, you need to change this route." I did.

Lucas did not build -- or name -- his museum as a challenge to fine art or fine art museums or the fine art world. But HOOO BOY are they threatened. Which, I gotta say, tells you everything you need to know about that world, if you're paying attention. (It's gorgeous. Go, if you can.)

Just got an email from Zoop about this, and I unironically love having my own work marketed to me. They're right. I am the perfect audience for this. It was a privilege to adapt Cassandra's astonishing book, and artist Mariano Benitez-Chapo did an amazing job.

I think (praise be his name) John Sayles' "Thinking in Pictures: The Making of the Movie 'Matewan'" was supposed to be a prime for making low-budget indie films. However, I've never made a movie, but it seemed like that when I read it almost 40 years ago.

Agreed. I don't believe that story. If Tyler Perry can find actors to play some pretty messed up Black people - as he did in "Divorce in the Black," Schrader can find Black actors, maybe not the ones he initially wanted.

I would pay a lot of money to hire writers to develop a live-action series based on Harlan Ellison's "Earth-Kyba War" stories by expanding that universe. I would have a large writers room. Then, I'd try to get 100 episodes. But first, I'd have to figure how who is the executor of Ellison's estate.
