Dog walkers #Ghoap meet cute after Soap's giant, unruly Newfoundland tries to plough his way out of the dog park gate and is expertly wrangled by Ghost. They watch all the dogs in the park running and playing. Soap just /knows/ Ghost's is that big Shepherd, or maybe the goofy Rotty bounding about.

Omg I have something for #WIPWednesday?? This is exciting 🤩 More #GazPrice, where retired!Price continues to struggle with the idea that he is "old" and "faulty". (Inspired by me when I lost my glasses and the optician reminded me 100x that I can't drive myself home even though I walked there 😂)

“Eh?”

He didn’t mean for that to sound so abrupt, but he’d been driving without specs probably longer than Kyle had been alive. The dreaded embarrassment sat in his gut, mixed with the rising heat of anger that he fought to tamper back.

“Legally, your eyes don’t meet the visual acuity needed for you to drive…” Kyle repeated, voice smaller than before. “So, do you have a way to get home that doesn’t require your car? I’m more than happy for it to take the parking space around the back of the office if you’re stuck on a meter.”

“Christ alive,” John scolds, hand pushed back into his thinning hairline. “You’d think I just got out of bleeding surgery- it’s a five-minute drive!”

The man behind the register doesn’t push the subject. He nods along with John’s disapproval, which only makes him feel worse. John wants to shout, to make a scene, to boss around and push back and fight.

But he doesn’t.

He snatched his card out of the reader, and without another word, bolted out of the door. Kyle followed on his heels, but no matter how many apologies he yelled John’s way down the street, the man is not ready to listen.

To Kyle’s approval, however, he flags down the nearest taxi and hops inside. God forbid the parking ticket he’d return to tomorrow; he just needed out.

A flash, and the closeness of Kyle’s hand, and his steady breaths, and the tick of the clock.

Good.

The praise has him reeling, even if he hasn’t done anything but sit still.

Now on your right, stay relaxed for me.

John does as he is told. Kyle hums in approval, and the sound of a dog barking is mostly occluded by the thick windows of the shop front.

Very good. Now, place your chin down on this rest, please.

Kyle moves the rest towards him, and takes care to raise it two turns higher, so than John’s poor back isn’t stressed. He doesn’t know whether Kyle had noticed his pain, or if he did that for everybody.

Now focus on the light please, this is the puff of air we talked about.

He’s nervous, as his eyes settle in on that small dot. But somehow, he’s built trust in the man, in the span of time they have been together. So, when the air hits him, he only jumps a little and groans when he realises he has two eyes and needs to go again.
