I see a lot of people complaining about the undoubtedly stressful conditions at present on London's roads. But I see few people complaining about motor vehicles. Yet in the last 24 hours three vulnerable road users have died after being hit by people driving motor vehicles.

I simply don't understand why we don't ban drivers like this for life. It's a licensed activity, you've shown you can't be trusted to do it, why should we let you ever get behind the wheel again?

Pretty sure it flapped open a few times going over potholes. Happy with my normal phone and a generations old but very cheap second-hand once-high-end tablet now. Crap processing power, great screen: good for reading, but not much else.

I loved my OG pixel fold: the "tablet in your pocket" thing is so useful for reading books, articles, comics etc on a whim. Even just showing photos on a slightly larger screen. Obviously nice for watching videos too. Sold it because I didn't like the peril of it strapped to my bike's handlebars.

If drivers always respected each other, we'd not need traffic lights. If they always respected pedestrians, we'd not need zebra crossings, etc.

In my mind that's not excusing, I guess in yours it is, maybe it doesn't matter. My point is we can't rely on people to behave properly and considerately all the time: if we could, we'd not need any infrastructure or rules at all!

In my defense, I did have to frequently look back to the cycle path to check for pedestrians walking out in front of me, so I probably missed a few!

Where have I excused that? Please tell me! I've repeatedly called for more considerate cycling! People have spent 3 days now telling me I'm doing that, but can never point to when or where! Pointing out that cyclists *shouldn't* have to, in an aspirational world, isn't saying it's ok!

No automated cameras for catching handheld phone use while driving though, as far as I know. Also illegal. Highly dangerous. Incredibly common (saw 6 definite uses, and about double that possible uses, on a ~1hr cycle yesterday - not to mention the guy who close passed me while doing it!)

No, it's an aspiration. Pedestrians should be able to walk across cities with very little need to stop. Then bikes. Then buses. Then cars. All too often its exactly the opposite way round.

As a cyclist, I'm sure you've encountered many junctions where you've got a red light for no discernable reason. Or, simply, just because some car-brained traffic engineer decided you weren't worth conveniencing. This is bad! This should change! This is what I'm arguing for!

I'm not sure what policy levers we have for solving that, aside from changing the built environment which encourages such prattery. I'm not defending or excusing poor cycling - I've spent 3 days now saying cyclists should be considerate - but the way to ensure that is good infrastructure!

Sorry, but can we not do what? The point I've been trying to make - and I think at this point, is being wilfully misconstrued - is that by and large the behaviour of cyclists is dictated by the infrastructure and rules they have to contend with. Even if we do just decide that some are prats,
