The dangling material is “seaweed” or some kind of plant from its time spent in Lake Michigan since 2011. I quite literally stood on the shore and watched them chase it out that day, and it was only angular as a stealth defense. It’s a shape material. Most of the time it’s lenticular. Now it’s sand.
