The exciting part about the Anthropic vibe coded settlement backend is that no matter how many times you fix your information, the same broken bits will reappear. It will be total madness. The entire backend is broken because, AS THEY TOLD ME ON THE PHONE, they know it is because they vibe coded.

This is perfect framing, in that corporations are not people and Citizens United should be struck down along with the computer god cult.

'Twas brilig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe: All mimsy were the borogroves, And the mome raths outgrabe.
Fluffy grey tabby with head hanging upside down from a cat tree. Wide eyes, wild whiskers, slightly open mouth displaying fangs. Image flipped so up is down and down is up, the light now coming from below like he's a flashlight-under-the-chin teller of tales.

Imagine being the sort of toddler who sees this and screams, "Now I know everything that happens! You've SPOILED MY READING EXPERIENCE!"
Trigger warning list in the front of The Black Hunger by Nicholas Pullen: homophobia, antisemitism, violence, child physical abuse, class privilege, mental illness, racism, colonialism.

OH RIGHT I have just realised this "self replicating AI" thing is part of the claim the machine god is alive, since as we all know, one of they key aspects of live things is that they reproduce.

Storygraph added comments on reviews. 😒 On the bright side, it's off by default, so you don't HAVE TO be abused for disliking a book someone has made their personality.

I sure am glad I washed all the windows and screens so 10 days later the landlord could send a guy to powerwash the siding and leave the screens and windows looking like they were hosed with milk.

I've been thinking for a while there are no organizations that represent the interests of their members, only organizations that collect members for the express purpose of getting paid to market garbage to said members.

Per the home page of the settlement site, the first round of payments will be sent "on or before November 15, 2026," except for books with unresolved claim disputes. It was a pretty limited class that excludes many of the people Anthropic stole from, so some nonpayment complaints are about that.

Heads up that Kobo's wish list is busted again (at least for me, in the US), not displaying current prices and therefore not surfacing sales on "sort prices low to high." If you're seeing less activity than normal and have the time, checking each book manually might be rewarding.

Kindergarten was the first time I was around not-my-sibling children, and I felt ancient. Why are they so loud? What do you mean they can't read and write yet? They're not allowed to use the stove? They're going to fall off those monkeybars and break their necks.

There has been no clinical evidence of Covid vaccines causing increased stroke risk. But there's a LOT of evidence of repeated infections causing increased stroke risk! That's part of why I'm so careful about avoiding infection. I don't mask indoors to avoid catching a cough. I do it for my brain.

Major antivax vibes in this. We collectively reduce a health problem to a degree that constant messaging about it is unnecessary, and then dumbasses think they can do hazardous behavior with no consequences because it's a "solved problem," not visibly continuous preventative work.

I have questions about how Winnie-the-Pooh is "related to" Wicker, the story from which the basket romance movie was adapted.
Books related to Wicker: Beekeeping for Beginners by Laurie R. King, The Girl in the Train by Agatha Christie, and 2 versions of Now We are Six! by A. A. Milne, with Christopher Robin, Piglet, and Winnie the Pooh on the covers.

Not on the ballot: Getting rid of the sales tax on food that got a lot of lip service earlier in the year. On the ballot: Constitutionally ensuring there can never be property tax at the state level. People who spend 1/3 of their paychecks on food picking up the revenue slack for landowners 4eva!

Given the makeup of my state government, the worst-faith interpretation of the 3 constitutional amendments on the ballot must be assumed, and red flags abound. I particularly dislike denying bail for charges of "terrorism," knowing how quick they are to call every protestor a terrorist.

The only reason I can think of that an illustrator would get an "adaptation copyright" would be in adapting text to a graphic novel. An art brief for a single piece of art containing keywords from a story is not an adaptation of the story. This entire statement is nonsense.

I just saw a "Learn how to write because AI sucks!" book list that was entirely the pep-talk genre (Bird by Bird et al.) and absolutely nothing that will teach you HOW TO WRITE, and my first thought was "Did you ask AI for this list?"

The AI project has as its explicit goal the reduction of your standard of living. AI companies have been telling you to your face that this is what they want to do to you and you're experiencing it happen in real time. LLMs went mainstream 4 years ago. Where are the glorious fruits of their labors?

Full text:
The same two images of a snake covered gate side by side with the text: Sanhedrin 75a: There was an incident involving a certain man who set his eyes upon a certain woman and passion rose in his heart, to the point that he became deathly ill. And they came and asked doctors what was to be done with him. And the doctors said: He will have no cure until she engages in sexual intercourse with him. The Sages said:
Let him die, and she may not engage in sexual intercourse with him. The doctors said: She should at least stand naked before him. The Sages said: Let him die, and she may not stand naked before him. The doctors suggested: The woman should at least converse with him behind a fence in a secluded area, so that he should derive a small amount of pleasure from the encounter. The Sages insisted: Let him die, and she may not converse with him behind a fence.

Finally finished. Generational wealth is a prerequisite in order to "thrive as an outsider" as stated in the subtitle. The world without private schools and trust funds does not exist in this book. In conclusion, meat prices are out of hand and the rich are right there.

It is bizarre to watch people use the words "restorative justice" to center the need of someone who assaulted someone else. You simply cannot talk about restorative justice in this context without centering his victim.

You can try to edit pronunciation by replacing the text with phonetic spelling. It's impossible to make it space words naturally or express any hint of context-appropriate tone. (It's been pitched to me in multiple iterations. I am not and will never be a user.)
