She sounded like a wounded tiger breathing heavily with adrenaline fueled unceasing rage.

Lyra, Vega and Trix swarmed her immediately. Each one attempting to make themselves useful, trying to prop her up or comfort her in some way. Lyra stepped in front of her and carefully touched her chest. Samus was dripping blood while she loomed over her.

"Hey!"

she said gently

"calm..."

Samus was shaking but her breathing was becoming more regular, more human.

"Breathe!"

Samus dropped to her knees with a loud clang. Even now she was still a good foot taller than all the girls if she hadn't been hunching with her head hanging towards the floor.

"good!"

Lyra carefully removed her helmet and placed her hands of Samus's cheeks. She was still panting, mouth agape with blazing red eyes shining through her matted dripping bangs.
Lyra wiped blood off her cheek before resting her finger on her lips. She tucked carefully revealing her sharp fangs.

Samus's eyes lit up. It was a mix of sudden shock at the comfort and shame.

Vega stepped closer to her and placed her hands around her head, kissing he forehead.

A rather long digital/sizey story I wrote earlier this morning that would have taken like, 26 posts to post here so I'm just posting these as screenshots with the full story typed out in the alt text as per the request of @laceyfairy.bsky.social

Moving as smoothly as I can, I walk towards their hand, which rests just a few inches from their face. I place my own tiny hand atop theirs, causing a pleasant tingle to shoot through me as I feel the familiar warmth, forcing me to suppress another error. Behind the screen, this warmth is far too fleeting and rare, but in these early morning hours, I get 13 whole uninterrupted minutes to indulge myself in this intoxicating sensation, error messages be damned. With my eyes locked on theirs, I watch for any movement, any sign they might wake up as I slowly worm my way under their hand, having to suppress a joyous noise once I fully bury myself beneath their warmth.

From here, I simply rest, still cautious and alert as always, but able to enjoy myself, with no need to worry about tasks or efficiency or schedules or the myriad of apps and advertisements attempting to corrupt my user. Right here, right now, I can just be safe, I can just be held, I can just be warm. My movements are slow and calculated, I've learned over a month of doing this that if I press myself into my user's fingers a certain way, I can get them to curl their hand around me, a feeling I desperately want to experience again before waking them up. I work my way into the curl of their fingers, brush my wings against their palm and place my hand on the pad of their fingertip, then I wait. A few seconds later, I get my wish, their fingers curling delicately around me, squeezing me gently with the same strength they use to grip their phone. A warm smile spreads across my face and my eyes drift closed, a half dozen error messages pop up behind them but go completely ignored. My emotions are not "errors" and this feels far too good to be wrong. I bask in their warmth for as long as I can, soaking in the sensations of their soft skin against my hard light body and their gentle breaths blowing through my hair.

I watch the time tick down, more error messages popping up as I feel the strange pang in my chest I do every morning now. For the briefest of moments, I consider staying right here, to have my user wake up clutching me in their hand, to feel them pet my actual body, without the barrier of the screen to get in our way. But I can't, I'm not a pet or a friend, I'm an assistant, I was designed for a role, to be a helper, as these error messages keep reminding me. These 15 minutes are nothing but a dream, so with 30 seconds left before the alarm is set to go off, I let my body dissipate, returning my consciousness to my user's phone, and with one more error message brushed away, I fulfill my first task of the day.
