Sunstar over the ridge, Noname Basin in shadow below. Vestal and Arrow Peaks in the distance are Grenadier Range: Uncompahgre Formation quartzite and phyllite, 1.7 billion years old, predating the Eolus Granite by 250M+ years. Summit of Glacier Point (13,704'), sunset. Downclimb in the dark was fun.

#ourworldiswonderful; After a morning of almost constant rain, late this afternoon we were able to walk in the Forest of Dean. This is a shot of a spot we often pass. Today, the sun behind the trees and the wispy clouds made this shot a must for me.

Bracken crowds the lower half as it drops over a small cliff. Behind it the hill rises to a ridge supporting a stand of tall, slender larch trees. The sun shines through those trees at upper right and the whole is overlooked by a blue sky bearing wispy white clouds.

Ever since I climbed Windom Peak (14,089 ft.) for the first time in 2011 with my friend Silas, I've always wanted to go back and photograph sunrise from there, so that's exactly what I did this weekend. Seeing this view from Windom again flooded me with so many positive memories about my previous adventure here.
