Maybe this is cope, but I think that's interesting wording to put "right now" at the beginning. Could suggest that it's a sneaky dodge, maybe

I believe that there should be sanctions and a policy of containment against the State of Israel, and also that antisemites should be either forcibly reeducated or taken out back. I suppose this makes me a centrist in the current discourse.

I'm literally a world federalist, used to be involved with a world federalist org but kind of dropped away from it Was very funny when they tried to frantically put together a Charlie Kirk commemoration post after he was killed

Isn't it rather sick, that the lethal cocktail contains a paralytic, such that even if the rest of it was messed up and the victim was condemned to experience a pain compared to burning up, that they would nonetheless suffer in silence, incapable of even a scream? That is how we cover our ears.

Lucy @leftliblucy.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
If it was really to minimise the pain of execution, then a 50 cal to the head is much more humane. But only the most bloodthirsty would cheer for that. The 'civilised' majority has learned to recoil, because they've grown to hate having blood splattered on their hands. But nonetheless, it is there.

Execution by lethal injection is not done for the sake of the inmate, but for our sake. It is not to reduce their suffering, but to reduce our guilt. It is so that the people who continue to support the barbarism of capital punishment are insulated from the ugly reality of killing a human being.

In terms of natural disposition, I'm actually a hawk. We should guarantee security for the region and build defence and state capacity for the only full-enfranchisement democracies in the Middle East (Lebanon and Iraq)

I mean, cutting off aid isn't exactly the end of the line either. There's plenty more options, if you have a little bit of imagination. Like it's in my bio. Personally I think we should pursue a policy of armed containment through guarantees of frontline state sovereignty, alongside an embargo

This is a country where young women have fewer legal rights than their mothers did, and where MeToo was opposed by male backlash from the highest levels of power and influence. And still some wonder why the young women of America feel disillusioned. This is a moment crying out for woke revanchism.

Rape culture operates as a mob phenomenon in which participants protect their own even if they were not themselves involved. I don't think it would be sufficient to limit the wrath of the state and civilised society only to the direct perpetrators. Thousands must learn to fear again. Millions, even.
0161
Lucy @leftliblucy.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
Those who rape with impunity, and those who defend and cover for them, are analogous to the bandits who take advantage of the vacuum of authority which occurs immediately after the start of a revolution. But soon enough, the new order will make itself felt and they will learn to fear again.

Lucy @leftliblucy.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
What anti-MeToo pundits don't accept is that freedom requires order, and that this is also true of sex. It's not enough to tear down the old patriarchal sexual norms and leave a vacuum. You have to establish a new ethic of consent. MeToo is nothing less than the completion of the sexual revolution.

So I might be misrepresenting it a little from incomplete knowledge, but he bemoaned how modernity supposedly eroded the authenticity of life, and favoured a more rural and 'rooted' existence in line with German traditions as more pure. You can see how this fits with his later sympathy for Nazism

I think something that is sort of clear is that some people only regard racism as bad because they've been taught to regard it as bad and not because they actually conceptually understand why it is bad on any level

Just watched No Other Land; it was good, I recommend watching it if you can get it. No real rehearsed thoughts at the moment, but god, what a stain it is on all those governments who continue to support and sustain the occupation. Unironically, drone strike settler raiders.

Mostly just contempt for lib-associated culture and symbols, and wanting to score points against imaginary people in their mind. They want to be the savvy ones above it all, who see beyond such sentimentalities as the arts and other such sinews of Commonwealth, unlike the brainwashed sheep who care.

Listening to the book at the moment and he seemed to suggest that "western progressive minds" who want to put pressure on Israel are the spiritual successors of British imperialists who want to impose their values on a foreign people. To which I can only say yes, I believe in imposing my values

I was a fan of the Legend of Korra, but did anyone else find it kind of strange when Bolin just said this out of the blue?
I had an argument with a friend: He insisted that Earthers were only really safe in the Earth Empire among fellow Earthers. I pointed out the absurdity of this since Earthers were quite evidently not particularly safe in the Earth Empire. Then he shifted: “Well, at least if you died there, you’d die amongst your brothers.” This is what I mean about nationalism being a doctrine of despair: ultimately, when you pull back the layers, nationalism is about desiring death, death for others and death for yourself. A warm, comfortable death for you, and a violent, cold, and terrible death for the other guy. It choses being subsumed in a mass to avoid the terrible difficulty of remaining human that rises to the fore in tragic moments like this one. When I die, I hope it will be here in Republic City, the promised land, surrounded by my brothers: all the different peoples of the world.

It's just a distraction from the truth we need to recognise: that the problem isn't just a small group of elites leading the people astray. The problem is the people and the civic culture and virtues, and it has been in so many ways, so many times throughout history.

Lucy @leftliblucy.bsky.social · 18/09/2026
This is why I'm so against people saying he didn't actually win in 2024; if that were so, then all we'd need to do would be expose and defeat a small number of people to restore peace and justice to the land, rather than gather the strength and will for a nationwide cultural reconstruction.

It's the noble savage thing, applied to their idea of the average person, warped by their actual distance from them. They see ignorance and call it simplicity. They see parochial bigotry and call it rootedness. They romanticise a caricature of what Heidegger might have called 'authenticity'.

Lucy @leftliblucy.bsky.social · 18/09/2026
It's gender, but it's also that a lot of centrist elites have internalised a kind of vulgar egalitarianism, where it's virtuous to be more in touch with the common people by sharing their opinions. And of course, the common people are supposedly reactionary.
