The year is 1811 and the new rector of Hunsford, Mr. William Collins, must be above reproach. He must be respectable, pious, good at losing at quadrille, and disapproving of popular novels. Above all,...

Thrilled to say that @oliviaatwater.com liked Think, Write, Edit, Romance! I am getting quite excited about this...
"Think Write Edit Romance is a marvellously straightforward, comprehensive guide, dripping with years of hard-earned experience. Everyone from fresh new writers to long-established authors will undoubtedly find it helpful"--Olivia Atwater, author of Half a Soul

My short story for Oct is here! WORKING DOGS is a queer spec fic western with ghosts. A stranger arrives at Case's ranch with a bullet wound and three vengeance-driven hunters on his tail as winter settles in 🍂❄️ Part 1/2 www.patreon.com/ArdenPowell/... Part 2/2 www.patreon.com/ArdenPowell/...
Story excerpt:
Bears dozed in their dens; a wolf pack streaked across the plains, their cries cutting through the frozen air like silver wires; bison and aurochs ploughed through the snow to paw up the vegetation underneath, their breath steaming from huge nostrils like a bellows, icicles clinging to their beards; painted mustangs thundered through the hills on their way to thinner snows; mammoths came down from the far north tundra; they looked like moving mountains against the horizon, their shaggy domed heads and sloping backs crusted in snow. The days passed in a blink and the nights stretched out in spans of cold galaxies as the wind howled in the chimney. Jack cut firewood as Case hauled feed and hay to the stable to keep the horses fit despite the pastures’ scarcity. When blizzards stormed in, they passed the time in bed by the firelight, breathing against each other like animals in their burrow as the snow stuck to the windows and barricaded the door.

OUT NOW! The Devouring time is available in ebook and paperback! Bookseller Sterling Caine and investigator Adrian Evans must find out what happened during Sterling’s forgotten year, or all of humanity will pay the price. CLICK HERE: buy.bookfunnel.com/2n2porj6w5
An ebook and paperback stand against an orange gradient. The covers are the same, and feature a cracked clock face against a blue background. Two illustrated death's head hawkmoths flutter around it. To one side, there is a "bug" featuring a light blue vortex surrounded by the words Widdershins Universe. Text reads: Bestselling author of Whyborne & Griffin, Jordan L. Hawk, The Devouring Time, a Widdershins Universe Novel. Beside the books is text reading: Now Available, The Devouring Time. Can a handsome investigator help an amnesiac bookseller regain his memories before it's too late?

Katie's next recheck is next month, and because I know it might be a bit pricey due to xrays and possibly blood work, I'm running a sale on The Reanimator Mysteries to raise money. All 4 books are 50% off, so grab 1 or all 4 for $10 itch.io/s/198894/hel... Shares are greatly appreciated!
A grey black background with the head Katie's appointment sale and book bundle
beneath it is a picture of katie (black dog with a white, semi bald nose with a scar) and on the other side are the covers for the four books in the reanimator mysteries series (the reanimator's heart, the reanimator's soul, the reanimator's remains, and the reanimator's fate)
in between, it says my dog katie had a soft tissue sarcoma removed from her nose and had radiation. the vet bills have been a lot of money and she has a recheck in september. to offset the cost, I'm putting the reanimator mysteries on sale for 50% off on itchio. you can grab all 4 for $10

Foggy day in the hills. Subbed a bit of flash fiction to a magazine. A good day
Black and white dog stands on a grassy hill track. A stand of pines is ghostly in the mist.

Your bad art is better than AI slop.
four frame comic. first frame shows a typical AI poster that says : All chatgpt flyers look the same, especially with this font! the text above it reads : I won't go to your event if the poster was made by AI. second frame shows a still frame from a Hank Green youtube video. text above reads : I won't read your post or email and I won't watch your video if they were made with AI. third frame shows an AI restaurant poster of burgers and chicken in a window. text reads : I won't patronize your shop or restaurant if it is advertised with AI. last frame shows an MS paint window with badly written : Your bad art is better than AI slop. text reads : if you can't take the time or make the effort to interact with me yourself, then why should I do it?

They do! Or at least in New Zealand they do. Tho there are fewer of them now. I haven't used one since I was told I'd have to pay NZ$2000 to see one to help organise a family trip to Japan. Seemed far too much. We did it ourselves.

Mind you, I suppose you can still choose, it's just that travel agents are so expensive now that it doesn't feel like a choice.

Lee Welch @leewelchwriter.bsky.social · 10/07/2026
That is true. But you could still choose to do it yourself and get the cheapest. Or go to the travel agent and know it wasn't the cheapest but it was easier.
