Had some new headshots taken on my way to war... These are by the incredible @kaitrinacuna.bsky.social of KaitrinAcuna.com.

While you're waiting for the Murderbot graphic novel, I thought I'd mention a new comic I've been enjoying. The Accessories (Leah Kilpatrick & David Dastmalchian, art by Patrick Piazzalunga) is basically The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen:The Henchmen Years. Issue 2 just dropped. Very fun!
A comic cover in muted greens. It's called The Accessories and marked as issue 1 of 4. At the bottom of the image are the creator names: Dastmalchian, Kilpatrick, Piazzalunga, Brako, Herrera.

The main central image is of a man bursting through what appears to be a movie poster of Frankenstein. The man appears to be in his late 40s/early 50s. He's wearing dark trousers held up by braces, and he has an off-white shirt that would benefit from a visit to the dry cleaner's. We only see one of his hands, but it's scarred, and is the hand of a man who works manua labour. He's staring out of the page at the reader with a determined expression on his face. He ain't taking no shit from anyone. His short black hair is licked to the side in a side parting.

I'll be in Anaheim for WorldCon at the end of August. Here's where you can find me!
A graphic with the LAcon V (2026 WorldCon in LA/Anaheim) in the top left corner. In the top right corner are the words "Where to find me at Worldcon". At the bottom of the graphic is a photograph of me in the middle, and a QR code on the bottom right. I don't know where the QR code leads. Perhaps it's a portal to another dimension! (Though it's likely just a link to the LAcon V website. I'm not trying it, as it'll only disappoint. But if YOU try it and it IS a portal, please let me know!)

In the middle of the graphic is text — three columns: Title of panel | Date | time

Tomorrow we have our annual Taskmaster show. As I'm the Taskmaster the winner gets to take home this rather wonderful bust of my head. Someone is going to be a very lucky winner, indeed. I am very envious, even though I own the real head. (But the real head isn't gold, so there's that.) #cvg2026
A bust of my head, mounted on a wood-effect plinth. The plinth has a wax seal on the front with the ConVergence logo (a representation of a droid called Connie). My head (which was scanned last year for this) is in gold. Pure gold. Well, pure gold paint, anyway.

Trapped. (More details in the alt.text.)
Trapped under 3 of my cats and my dog.
Rafferty (an 11 yr-old Tiffany/Rag Doll cross, and the only male animal we've ever had) is on the left, looking up at me, leaning against my leg. He's a bit arthritic and more than a bit chunky and adores me. Behind him, sleeping, is Ginny, an 8 yr-old shih tzu dog, also leaning against me. She's adorable and perhaps the dumbest dog in the world. Next, and sitting on my lap, is Beatrix, a 5 yr-old Bengal. She's one of the most beautiful cats I've ever seen, and frighteningly intelligent. If she had opposable thumbs she would make me her servant (even more so than she has, already) and maybe even rule the world. Next to her, sitting between my knees is Daisy, a 13 or 14 yr-old Tiffany/Rag Doll. She gets confused easily, but she's just so adorable and loving. I'm a very lucky man.

Rafferty, being provocative. Happy Birthday!!!
Rafferty, a Tiffany/Ragdoll cross (cat). We see him from above. He's lying on his back on the sofa with all his legs in the air. His head is slightly raised from the sofa, as he's looking at someone, and probably saying, "Well, are you going to ruffle my belly or not?"
He is extremely fluffy and his belly, to be fair, is extremely ruffleable.

Update We tried meds to promote her appetite, anti-parasitic meds, steroids, and antibiotics, to no avail, so it's time to afford her the dignity of a trauma-free passing. Tomorrow we have a vet coming to help her on her way, so she can pass in the safe, loving and stress-free environment of home.
A photograph of our beautiful cat Moth, as a kitten. She's light grey with dark grey across her face and random other places. She's sitting on a wooden chair looking vaguely to the right of the camera.

She could be a grumpy bugger, but was still so full of love. She had layers. Tomorrow evening we get to say goodbye after a very short 11 years.

Pontefract, today. Lots of poorly-painted crosses. Because nothing says "I love my country" quite as much as vandalism. The racist fuckwads must be so relieved their flag is a simple red cross. Imagine if they had to use more than 1 colour! So confusing! Luckily for them "UK" is easy to spell, too.
Some sort of concrete cylinder, maybe 3 feet high, in a rough patch of greenery. It's probably a cross-section from a tunnel, or something. Who knows?
Someone has painted a red cross on it. Presumably it's supposed to be the England flag, but it's so badly done that it just looks like someone has marked it for demolition.
Most people would be able to paint this in a matter of seconds, but you can imagine the dumb racists taking loads of time with it, tongue sticking out the side of their bigoted mouths.A disused red brick building. The windows have metal grids over them. Someone has daubed BRITISH! in red paint on the side of the building.
Honestly, it's fairly impressive they've spelled it correctly. Racists aren't always the brightest. Two telecoms cabinets in the street. A red cross has been scrawled on each one. The one of the left has a relatively small cross. The ends of the lines making up the cross don't reach the edges of the cabinet doors. The one on the right has a much larger cross. Consistency evidently not a trait enjoyed by the idiots who painted these. The cross on the left has a line going across that's not horizontal. Instead it goes up a bit right at the start, then heads on a slightly downward path the further right it goes. It looks as much like a poorly-drawn Prince symbol as a poorly-drawn cross.
Honestly, the amount of pride these cockwombles claim to have in their flag you'd think they'd take more care in recreating it.A disused brick building with windows that are covered by a metal sheet and a metal grid.
Three pieces of graffiti on this one:
The one on the far rights is a generic red cross. No outer border to show that the brain-dead half-wit who painted this intended it to be a representation of the English flag.
The graffiti in the centre is another scrawled red cross underneath the letters FFU. The first suggestion that Google has for me for this acronym is "Fan Filter Unit", which leads me to suspect the perpetrator of this vandalism works for an air conditioning manufacturer and he's had a bad day on the fan filter production line, poor lamb.
The vandalism on the left is a bit odd. A square painted in red paint with a red cross with lines going from top to bottom and left to right roughly centrally. It's evidently intended to be the flag of St George, but it just looks like the cells A1-B2 in a spreadsheet. Cell A1 holds the letter U. Cell B1 holds the letter K. Call A2 says "ON". B2 says "LY". UK ONLY. Ohhhhh! It's a poor attempt to signal the vandal's racist tendencies.
A three-year old could do better. (Artistically, I mean. I don't know of many three year-old racists.)

Damnit! I have to get up, but my legs are being crushed under the weight! Somebody send help or I may be here for some time! (Alt text gives descriptions.)
Behold! Half of my cats!

Overhead view of my lap, on which sit (clockwise from the top):

~ Rafferty, a chunky ragdoll/tiffany cross cat. His left ear is slightly mangled due to a previous illness. He's a good boy and frightened of nothing (except plastic bags, which terrify him, the silly sod).

~ Beatrix, a bengal cat. The cleverest cat I have ever known - I sometimes go to her for advice. Loving and fast.

~ Daisy, another ragdoll/tiffany, and the oldest of our 6 cats. She still has energy and love to give, but she's worryingly old.

All three are perched precariously because they're stubborn, and I love them all, dearly, even when they're not physically weighing me down.

A photograph of your favourite science fiction editor™ holding a print. The print is of Murderbot loosely holding a long range projectile weapon of some sort, gazing into the distance across a bridge leading to a futuristic-looking building. The print is blue in tone.

Behind your favourite science fiction editor™ is a bookcase filled with books, shelved according to colour (and he wants you to know that was *not* his idea!) There's a rather splendid chandelier hanging from the ceiling.

A variation on the classic meme of Homer Simpson disappearing backwards through a hedge.
This time, Homer has been replaced with Murderbot over 4 panels. The last panel, where most of Murderbot is hidden inside the hedge, is text reading, "Should have downloaded more shows".

The individual words in the text are all capitalised for some reason, and this annoys me more than it should, though the meme itself is amusing.

Currently watching The Traitors (Australia). I like the host, but I keep thinking he's Harvey Proctor if you'd ordered him from Wish.

Well, I *was* going to get up to get a drink, but looks like I'm stuck for now.
My lap, covered by two Rag Doll cats (Daisy and Moth) and a Bengal (Beatrix).

Just auditioned for a local production of this terrific play. It's been a while since I auditioned for anything other than a musical.

Tree is up.
My Christmas tree, sitting in the bay window, fully decorated. A mysterious wicker monkey faces away in quiet condemnation.

Day 12. A song from your pre-teen years. "Little Girls" from Annie (1977). A few years ago I played Miss Hannigan in a local amateur production of this show, and had so much fun (and my younger daughter, Lana, played Annie for half the performances,) "Little Girls" is Hannigan's best song.
Me, as Miss Hannigan in Annie.Me (on the left) as Miss Hannigan in Annie. Also featured are Lily and Rooster. Lily and Rooster are dancing. I'm attempting to keep up.
People tend to get hurt when I dance.

Pinched this from @adamchristopher.me. I'm going to try to pick a song from musical theatre for each of these. Some will be frustratingly easy. Some will probably be just frustrating.
30 Day Song Challenge.
A numbered list 1-30 with each number asking for a sony along a specific theme for that day.

Post a picture of yourself to show the newbies what they’re dealing with.
Photograph of an editor marking up a manuscript with a red pen. He's sitting outside with a glass of mimosa.
Oh, and he's wearing a tuxedo kacket, collarless shirt with purple bow tie and on the bottom half he has brightly patterned swimming trunks and superman socks.
