I've been to three funerals in three weekends, and for all of them, @peculiarityshop.bsky.social has had my jewelry needs covered. This combination is probably now my go-to. Everything but the bracelet came from the shop, and it was wonderful to have a set I could simply grab and go.

I have been blessed with a host of shiny riches lately from @peculiarityshop.bsky.social and finally have some pictures. The stones in sterling are all aurora opals, aka my new obsession. The elephants are nifty screwbacks to accommodate the fact that my ears are sensitive as heck.

A local restaurant serves this amazing hot honey feta dip. I wanted some tonight but didn't want to pay restaurant prices, so I thought I'd make my own. I did it, and it tastes pretty dang good, but also I forgot to get pita at the store, so now I have nothing to scoop with!

Resealable container of pale creamy feta cheese dip topped with crushed pistachios and drizzled hot honey, set on a granite countertop.

8 Oz block of feta, 3/4 cup of plain Greek yogurt, zest of a lemon, hot honey and olive oil for making it, crushed pistachios.

Toss the feta, yogurt, and lemon zest in the food processor with blades and start processing. You can drizzle in olive oil and honey to smooth it all out (and add some pistachios if you want them chopped up finely). Then pour it onto a serving plate, make a well, fill it with honey, and top it with crushed pistachios. Or dump it all into a container like I did if you aren't going to eat it right away. Scoop it with slices of flatbread/pita.

The stone in this one reminds me of a gummy, almost. Also, this batch has a ton of really beautiful work in the bands on many of them. I love the filigree and such.

It's not even May, yet weeding the landscaping left me in desperate need of a boob sweat absorber and anything between my poor legs and the scratchy grass. Still, the irises are thriving, and the established peonies are being their dramatically swoony selves. With bonus herb garden.

My birthday preciouses arrived today from @peculiarityshop.bsky.social and I am so thrilled with how gorgeous they are! I knew the white stone (an opal, IIRC, I'm too tired to track down the listing) would sparkle, but I was not prepared for just how much snap it has. It is beyond glorious!

I have come to the point in my cat's life where I have to accept that he's not going to be here forever. And, in fact, his remaining time is probably pretty short. I'm grateful to be granted the days we still have ahead of us, but they're far, far too few.

Ok, this is darn good, even if I didn't get around to cutting it until lunchtime. The crumb turned out nice, and it's tasty with both peanut butter and melted brie. I didn't get the cherries and chips as well-distributed as I'd like, but next time...

The big beautiful bread round has been sliced! One end is cut off and lying close to the camera on a black bread knife, next to the rest of the round. The inside is studded unevenly with dried cherries and chocolate chips. There's also a bit of a bubble, but it isn't huge. Definitely acceptable in homemade bread.

We're having a potluck to make up for not getting paid, so I made foccacia. The first is just sea salt, since we're having jambalaya and chili; the other is a half-batch to use the last of my flour and has Trader Joe's cinnamon roll spread inside with thinly sliced apples and cinnamon sugar on top.

I made pão de queijo today at last, and, for a few delicious moments, I was back in São Paulo. My child, meanwhile, took one bite and handed the rest to me. I do not know where I have gone wrong that a warm nugget of cheesy bread did not appeal. More for me?

Found a new bakery today where I got the most amazing croissant-crust lemon mascarpone tart and a turmeric and ginger tea called "Cup of Sunshine." I just hate that it's an hour away because that is NOT the sort of place you just pop into without planning.

Grocery greenery and carnations keep my peonies company this time of year. I can never get enough of their incredible smell. They remind me of childhood and the line of peony bushes in our backyard. Let's just hope I evicted all the ants...

Despite my apparent best efforts to kill them, my peonies and coral honeysuckle are coming back after taking the winter off. I love the time of year when plants start picking up where they left off the year before.

The Polity Project has downgraded its score for the USA from +8 (democracy with factionalism/polarization) to 0 (freely elected executive, 8; total lack of constraints on executive action, 1; restricted factionalism, 6). President Trump began ruling by decree on “Day One”; Congress has done nothing to rein him in; there is some reaction by the courts but time has proven that Trump is an expert in delaying, ignoring, or otherwise avoiding legal accountability for years (until legal action becomes irrelevant). Ignoring the Constitution and Rule of Law is the functional equivalent to suspending the constitution. USA scores 4 on democratic authority and 4 on autocratic authority (POLITY = 0). This change is considered an autocoup (executive coup) and an Adverse Regime Change.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Everything I ordered from @fridaytea.com arrived a day ago, and they paid attention to the fact I only ordered decaf when throwing in two samples. I'd had my eye on the Choco Cherry Decaf, and I love that I got to try it today (Verdict: Yum!)
