The piece I chose for my third study was the most complex. The original art by @animalshapes.bsky.social had fantastic details. Study #3 - buildings and dynamic lighting. I couldn't recreate the original art's amazing details but I could reinterpret and simplify them into something that works.

For my next study I made sure to block out the major shapes before delving into details. Edge control was a struggle, executed haphazardly. But the result is still readable. Study #2 - rocks, grass, and clouds: I tried to copy brushwork by the original artist (@animalshapes.bsky.social) verbatim.

I'm sharing my first painting studies! I studied fundamentals by copying environment pieces by an experienced artist: @animalshapes.bsky.social. Study #1 - mountains, atmosphere, water: I blocked out big color groups (shapes) before getting prematurely distracted by detail. Left it as a WIP.

Sometimes! Tho I can appreciate art that gets people to think even if the painting/whatever is just weird. Like I just got back from a museum in Rotterdam that had half of an entire floor showing a giant pentagon-shaped platform of peanut butter, pungent and full of allergy warnings. 🤔

Aww gotta love the precious rare floofs. It was exciting when a Sierra Nevada Red Fox was seen on a trail cam in the Tahoe basin last year. Before that it'd been a good 70-80y since one was seen here.

It works strangely. Thanks to the Taiwan Nationality Act, I inherited Taiwanese citizenship from my dad. I thought I could APPLY for Taiwanese citizenship but I didn't realize that I already have it. The paperwork is just a formality.
