I'm sharing my first painting studies! I studied fundamentals by copying environment pieces by an experienced artist: @animalshapes.bsky.social. Study #1 - mountains, atmosphere, water: I blocked out big color groups (shapes) before getting prematurely distracted by detail. Left it as a WIP.

An alumni booklet from my HS came with a 2pg spread featuring the grossest bully writing about the importance of character and that "how you treat people, that's who you are." 100% agreed. He was a real piece of shit. Today, I hope his actions match his rhetoric and that he's living his best life. 🕊️

People misspell my name all the time when replying to my messages. Every darned day. So I've devised a clever way to help everyone spell my (or anybody's) name correctly: Step 1. Look at how the sender spells their name in the message or email that you're replying to. Step 2. Spell it like that.

It's impossible to find a restaurant that serves my childhood comfort foods so I had to learn how to make them myself! Savory soy milk soup (鹹豆漿), meat-stuffed pancakes (餡餅), and crispy sesame scallion bread (芝麻大餅). The soy milk is home-made. Next up: sesame flatbread (燒餅) and fried breadstick (油條).

Different foods characteristic of Northern China and Taiwan. Top-left: A sesame bread stuffed with scallions. Top-right are large stuffed pancakes. Lower-left show these stuffed pancakes sliced open. One features a pork-chicken filling and the other has lamb. Lower-right is a savory soy milk soup containing scallions, pickled mustard greens, vinegar, soy sauce, and bonito flakes (substitute for the tiny dried shrimp).

Starfox striking the proposed Triumphal Arch with his staff superimposed on a web-based submission to the National Park Service regarding said arch. The comments state:

"The Triumphal Arch's domineering, excessive size is out of proportion with other classical monuments in Washington DC. It obstructs the views of the historic skyline. It is inconsistent with American character and architecture. Both its name and its shape are copies of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, which was commissioned by Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. Like Arc de Triomphe, it is the symbol of an authoritarian leader celebrating his own ego. The Triumphal Arch would be a divisive monument to serve the vanity of a corrupt president, the most unpopular president in modern history, and it has no place on the national mall."

A little sequence! Mango fox reads a social media post containing a test to see if you can visualize an apple. 4 examples are shown with the subject, a canine silhouette, with an apple in different degrees of detail. The poster said "I can't see the apple!"
Then the fox begins visualizing an apple. A blurry image of an apple floats above his head. Then he concentrated harder. The apple looks more like a rosy cartoon rabbit butt now and it looks almost real. Finally there is a pop and a crash, where Bugs Bunny is shown standing a prone fox with his bunny butt and rabbit tail in the fox's face.
