Went to 3 different local bookshops and got some new additions to the shelves. 1 of the bookshops gave me a cute tote bag, I got a free zine from another and bought a newly published Japanese book, along with a clothbound edition of one of my all-time favourite novels.

One of my favourite places in Japan, discovered by @danfoto.bsky.social Kyoto, Nov 2024. .

A tall old torii gate standing in the inner part of a forest, surrounded by natural column-like trunks of trees with full canopies of leaves, low man-made stone pillars and green ferns.
Delicate shafts of light are falling on the red gate and through it, onto muddy ground below and the stone outlines of constructed foundations still visible in some places. The red paint is lightly covered in green moss, lichen and dust, and the whole area is showing signs of and giving off an air of overgrown neglect.

I did end up going to the bookshop and in my defense, having had a look at the writing style and subject on a few pages, it looks absolutely perfect for where I'm going. Yes, I also got cake (and ice tea, not pictured).
