Autumn seems to be here in earnest
A figure covered in a dark green robe holding a small branch like a staff. They have moss growing on their torsoA grey-haired male-presenting figure is seated sideways on to us, reading an old book. They are draped in bright red fabric, reminiscent of renaissance paintings of St Jerome. Behind them are a pile of books, on top of which is a sheep skull.A female-presenting figure stands in darkness, holding a branch in their left hand as a staff. What can be seen of their face and body is daubed in painted lines and symbols, in a deep indigo colour.A female-presenting figure, their body daubed with white paint, with green paint over the top half of their face. Their left arm is raised horizontal, and their right hand holds a knife.

After 36 years of waiting I won't believe it until I hold the damn thing in my own hands. (I think this is either a mistake or Eldritch wryly trolling)
screenshot from a festival website stating "It is with great regret that we must announce Sisters of Mercy will not be performing at this year's Brutal Assault. The cancellation is due to the band moving up the recording schedule for their new album. We sincerely apologize to all fans of these British icons; we are already in talks to bring them to the fortress for next year's edition instead." Enter the infamous 118 118. Marketed by two moustachioed men in retro athletic wear, jogging through a cultural landscape that no longer required their service. These characters were pure hauntology: ghosts of a bygone era of certainty and legibility, now recycled into a loop of ironic repetition often parodying film sequences, and in some cases, even roping in guest appearances from the cultural icons themselves (Ray Parker Jnr as a bus conductor because why not?) They weren’t just marketing a phone number; they were performing a pastiche of collective memory because the service, they must have known, was ultimately redundant because of the spectre of Google on the horizon (which by then was already an established server of free information, albeit while tethered to desktop computer). Even some of their later adverts tried to posit them as ‘quicker’ than waiting for mobile data.

I am writing a little something about my Acid Renaissance series (not for my blog, this time)
A screenshot of text reading:
"The series starts by dealing out a number of characters — archetypes, personifications, mythic and folkloric figures — as a type of major arcana, before presenting an optimistic glimpse of a future — a Bacchanalia beneath the Wind Turbines — then taking some guided tours around the perpetual night of the city of Osis, introducing some triptychs forming teasingly incomplete narratives, followed by a sojourn at the Court of Queen Mab…"

It's a free-for-all on #WyrdWednesday this week, so here is “A Haunting of Roses”, from my Acid Renaissance series of artwork. The mask/headdress took several weeks to make! Giclée Prints of this and other pieces of my work available from shop.lazaruscorporation.co.uk/category/gic...
A figure’s head and shoulders are shown against an indistinct background. The figure’s head and top half of their face is covered with a mask/headdress made of faded pink, purple, white, and lavender roses. Some of the petals are covered with traces of cobwebs.

The figure’s lips are painted red, and their skin is alabaster. They have further strings of flowers around their neck, hanging down over their chest, similarly covered in cobwebs.

The company I work for made the same move. The Teams UI is confusing, cluttered, and messy, and they keep adding even more. That said, Zoom were rapidly adding unneeded features as well (although not as bad as Teams yet). The whole thing reminds me of the 1990s browser custom toolbars explosion
