Back rooms are essential to mental health. I hope it had all the mod coms you deserve as a *rock star* author.

I understand, but they have all these shades of bluuuue. I helped a friend decide on which blue she had to have, and it was an agonizing process. (I still haven’t committed to Le Creuset, I have all this cast iron)

I am so sorry for the person shot and their family. It’s appalling that ICE comes into our neighborhoods and terrorizes people, committing horrific crimes like this attempted murder and kidnapping. Thank you for defending the people of New York, and taking this directly to the President.

Dracula, with Bela Lugosi, on TV, Saturday afternoon movies. I was 8, and why my parents let me watch that is a mystery. I was afraid of vampires for years.

Ooh, I NEED this! I have been waiting so long for Angharad’s book. I did love The Dervish’s book (Dagger Bound), but I am craving Angharad!

Also in So Cal: I saw premium gas for $8.00/gallon today. Granted it was a 76 station and pay with credit card, but still. Groceries are about 40% more than they were 2 years ago. GRRRRRRRRR.

Think about Ruth Gordon’s character in Harold and Maud, and you get the idea.

She doesn’t go by Sally, which is the only reason I felt okay mentioning her, because like a lot of children of the famous, she’d rather not be known as Child of… She has certainly led a life in the arts, and in the Alternative Lifestyle, and could write a book about it all.

Cora @lawombat.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

Did you ever wonder what those 4 kids were like when they grew up? I can tell you Sally grew up to be even stranger and other worldly than you might have imagined. She’s a good friend of a friend, and I am regularly flabbergasted. (I suspect the other 3 became Normal Citizens)

Make sure your art/artist combination is fresh and room temperature before separating or the art won’t stiffen properly….(I don’t know what this means either)

Cora @lawombat.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

Yep! This used to happen regularly when I lived in Portland, I would get cold in the winter and nothing but a genuinely hot bath would regulate my core temperature again (or so it seemed)

The Arizona light is so beautiful and cameras just never seem to do it justice. I guess it’s one of those things that lives in one’s memory and heart

Usually my opinion of insects is if they stay outside, I will leave them alone. Fire ants are absolutely an exception. My experience with them in Texas was…traumatic . Isopropyl alcohol does seem to do the trick. Fortunately for me, they don’t seem to be in my part of California.

Sleep? Is that actually an option? I am looking forward to all this luscious reading material though ( and I assure you I am a consistent purchaser of both ebooks and audio books because, well, I need both. Depending.)

Good gods, Ursula, 6 BOOKS IN ONE YEAR?! I missed that thread entirely. I am so sorry, that is cruel and unusual and beyond anything, including the insane output of Seanan McGuire. I will of course continue to buy anything you write, and be very happy with all this largesse, but damn.

DoorDash spent $1.4M trying to stop Zohran Mamdani from becoming mayor. This week's historic $131.5M enforcement action against DoorDash for underpaying NYC delivery workers shows why. Yet another reminder that the only thing that can beat organized money is organized people.

DoorDash Spent $1.4 Million Trying to Stop Mamdani From Becoming Mayor. Now We Know Why.

In a wage-theft settlement, DoorDash now has to pay its workers around 100 times what it spent trying to beat Zohran Mam

Wow! Thanks, that’s a rarity, and an amazing example! It’s a technique called tied straw, and Morgyn and I did tiny sample one at a straw conference; it is much harder than doing a regular sewn one out of plait.
