I’m only a few episodes in to this final season, and so far, it’s all-caps CINEMA.

I first saw Romero’s DAWN OF THE DEAD when I was 13, and it’s still one of my horror faves today. So I’m beyond thrilled that my short film LOVE BITE is going to screen in DAWN’s legendary Monroeville Mall on Friday night as part of Living Dead Weekend. If you plan on attending, please check it out!

As someone who saw STAR WARS at the Chinese Theatre as a 9 year old opening weekend in 1977, and had my life changed as a result, it’s fair to say my 49 year long relationship with this franchise has seen its ups and downs. 1/2

People are talking about how the ALIEN 3 Assembly Cut has “quietly” dropped on HBO Max. It was on HBO in HD many years ago, albeit with the rough, unfinished audio of the 2003 DVD release, even though the greatly improved sound of the 2010 Blu-ray release was available. Glad that’s been fixed!

When Rob Reiner was on his all-time epic run at the start of his career, he had an opportunity to read a script that was looking for a production partner, and he lost his mind for it. He decided Castle Rock had to have it, no matter what.

Stunned and dismayed by the murder of Rob Reiner and Michele Singer. Reiner was a giant in the field of entertaining audiences and making us feel good. He was a superb director, and a fierce champion for the rights of others. This is both heartbreaking and maddening.

haven’t seen ROS or Solo but this seems like a pretty ball-knowing list from Pritzker, particularly if he volunteered the name “Star Wars” rather than “A New Hope”

So, we asked Pritzker to weigh in on the go-to debate for every "Star Wars" nerd: Which movies are the best? Here's his ranking of the 11 major films in the series:
1. "The Empire Strikes Back" (1980)
2. "Star Wars" (1977)
3. "Return of the Jedi" (1983)
4. "Rogue One" (2016)
5. "The Last Jedi" (2017)
6. "Revenge of the Sith" (2005)
7. "The Force Awakens" (2015)
8. "Solo" (2018)
9. "The Phantom Menace" (1999)
10. "Attack of the Clones" (2002)
11. "The Rise of Skywalker" (2019)

John Carpenter’s THE THING takes place during the “first goddamn week of winter.” It also takes place in Antarctica, where winter begins in March. Just something to keep in mind when people start with the memes in a few weeks.

Judi Dench played a new M opposite Pierce Brosnan as a veteran Bond shortly after the fall of the Soviet Union in GOLDENEYE. Then she played a veteran M opposite Daniel Craig as a new Bond “after 9/11” (her words) in CASINO ROYALE. Somehow, we got through it.

TO LIVE AND DIE IN L.A. went so insanely hard, and delivered the goods in ways few directors could match against Friedkin in his prime. I still have the French TLADILA poster Friedkin signed for me hanging in my office. Happy 40th anniversary to one of my all-time favorite crime thrillers.

Just a reminder that Andor S2 was written in 2022. If this show sounds sooooooo much like current events, it's just that the writers have drawn on centuries of histories of authoritarianism and injustices. The series is a mirror showing just how much ugliness we've allowed to become normal.
