My daughter is finally old enough for the adult COVID vax, so she & I are getting flu & COVID 💉 at Costco Rx tomorrow. Son got his flu shot last week. I’d been waiting for kids COVID 💉 to come in but our state still doesn’t have it. So I scheduled what I could for now & 🤞 Feds/state get it out.

One of the ways in which my #ADHD is a superpower: Because I get bored & distracted easily if under-stimulated (esp. online) I anticipate when others will get bored & try to prevent it. So I make presentations designed to help ppl stay attentive w/ authentic illustrations of everything discussed.

One of the unexpected benefits of social media is learning how differently our bodies & brains work. Things that I was not aware there was so much variation in! E.g. w/o people just talking in public, I probably wouldn’t have learned that some people can’t visualize or hear in their minds.

Mr. Okusaku in 4th grade knew I was smart & liked learning, but just needed exercise breaks so I could focus. He'd see me wiggling & send me to run across the field & back. I wasn't diagnosed with ADHD for 30 more years, unfortunately, but he taught me to make modifications for myself & love school

The Anchorage childcare meeting in Spanish was important for many reasons related to content & process, but also it was beautiful. The old chapel at Saint Mary's is my favorite indoor place in Anchorage & so I wanted at least some of the problem-solving & sharing to happen in that lovely space.

4+ hour mtg in Spanish re. Childcare & childcare 💵 in Anchorage. We held it in Spanish to center the people closest to the issue (providers) & removed barriers to their participation. It was a dialogue between local & state policymakers, non-profits, the Muni, & providers (center & home-based) —w/ 🌮

To be clear: this ballot measure will NOT repeal the limits we imposed on ourselves for how much each person can spend on a Senate or House candidate, but it *would* repeal the limits we set on the amount that a person can give to tickets for Gov/Lt Gov. So it’d be like this Gov campaign again 😕.

The hurricane hit the island of Kauai very very hard. Thousands are without electricity, food access, & housing. My mom @cnmak.bsky.social was just there cleaning up & sent me these photos & told me about these 2 reputable orgs doing emergency assistance: Kauai Recovers and Malama Kauai.

18 years old means they were not vaccinated as a child when they had no choice & they probably didn’t have time to by the time they turned 18. And it’s not like we’re doing great health education on vaccines for youth from anti-vax families who are just aging into being able consent for themselves.

Someone named Jules said something about how they don’t care if unvaccinated people die. Someone named Millie replied “I do bc most are kids.” Later, Jules said “the two who died were 18 and 40.” My post was a reply to that comment.

For folks wanting to expand on the Macklemore/Ed Sheeran situation, I recommend the 1957 Albert Camus lecture "Create Dangerously," which u can find in this book. In it, he talks about the line good art must walk between frivolity & propaganda, & how art that insists on being a luxury becomes a lie.

The hardest thing about ADHD is the inconsistency — which is 💯 part of the disability. We often judge people based on 1 or 2 instances & form an idea of their patterns. But I’m usually good at something (e.g. time management) & then sometimes I’m not. I hate this bc it violates my OWN standards.
