It's been a while. Life has been busy. I finished knitting Kitty Big Head (see pic below) and he was picked up by his new owner. New owner absolutely adores him and about made me cry with how happy she was; it was so cute!

Life is particularly hard right now. It's going to get worse. I want to run away, but I can't, and I won't. So I'm knitting a lot. The first is a hot pink (requested that color) kitty. The second was going to be a monster but clearly needs to be a butterfly. And the third is part of an elephant.

I'm almost done with my scarf for the library! It's the softest thing I've ever knit, excepting Mouse's baby blanket. I hope somebody stays warm and snuggly with it this winter. I might even have enough yarn left to make a roll brim hat (only kind of hat I know how to knit).

Gonna have to agree. In my mid twenties I bought my first house, with my future-ex. That small house, which was at the top of our two income budget, now costs almost three times as much. It's absurd. I don't know how younger generations are surviving, tbh.

Needed to remind myself. A roof over my head, heat in winter, ac in summer, food, water, some way to cook & store food & water, medical care, mental health care, simple clothing, a means of travel, basic human rights - these are necessities. Everything else is a luxury. Granted, I like luxuries.

Thinking of getting rid of wifi. Looks like I can upgrade my Google Fi from the basic plan to something more unlimited for cheaper than paying for both wifi and data. Of course that means no TV. Maybe I can get a used DVD player and use the library's DVDs.

Time for an update: My friend Kenny now has Stage 4 Esophageal Cancer which has metasticized to spots outside his esophagus, one of his ribs, and possibly his liver. He is part of a clinical trial which requires bi-weekly trips to San Antonio for the next 1-2 years. gofund.me/dd00da8bb

Best friend's first pet scan didn't come back as clear as we hoped. He's gotta get an MRI and a bone scan and then there's talk of a clinical trial with immunotherapy. He's putting on a brave face, but I know he's devastated. He was so eager to get back to work and life. Fuck cancer.

This was interesting to listen to. Especially as my gut reaction to the situation is "how offensive and racist of him." Shay offers a perspective from one with Tourrettes and coprolalia specifically. I'm not sure it changes how I feel, but it does educate me and that's never a bad thing.

Mr. Martinez initially did not follow officers' instructions but eventually slowed to a stop after receiving verbal commands. Agents surrounded the vehicle and told him to get out of the car before Mr. Martinez accelerated and hit a federal agent who landed on the roof of the car, according to the documents. Another agent then fired multiple times through the driver's side window. Mr. Martinez was transported to a hospital in Brownsville and later died.

I need a hair cut, the car needs an oil change, the dog needs a new bag of food, & the yard needs mowed. Unfortunately all of this takes money I do not have & will not until SSDI arrives Feb 24th. Even then, the yard and I are just gonna have to be shaggy for a while I think.
