I fought the parts of this agreement that go against the interests, the human rights and the clear will of the Ecuadorean people, bringing it to the International Trade Committee for study, meeting with the Ecuadorean ambassador and with Ecuadorean indigenous reps. Canada should be ashamed.

We work with communities in Latin American, Africa and Asia-Pacific whose rights have been violated by Canadian mining companies. Some of these communities have filed complaints that are languishing in limbo because there is no Ombudsperson. The need for an independent, empowered CORE is clear.
