Vancouver’s Integrity Commissioner has found Mayor Ken Sim and ABC councillors broke the code of conduct on multiple occasions for coordinating amendments to controversial motions in separate private online conversations ahead of public council meetings

Truly disappointed to see the Park Board indefinitely shelving the Trout Lake Dog Park Renewal and Jonathan Rogers Park Renewal in favour of renewing a VSB turf field that has 5+ years of life left.

Vancouverites have overwhelmingly rejected the direction of ABC. Both successful candidates campaigned against abolishing the elected Park Board. @davidebybc.bsky.social @jervaler.bsky.social, no democratically elected body should be suspended without a clear mandate from voters. #vanpoli #bcpoli 1/

If by-election candidates can’t attend debates because they can’t “fit them into” their calendars, how can they expect to meet the challenges and time expectations of being a City Councillor? Is Ken Sim’s 33% attendance record even too much for them?? @vote4abc.bsky.social 🤔

If ABC cared about integrity they would have already moved to implement the recommended changes in this report (and those the IC herself recommended in her annual reports). Instead it is clear that this review was a guise to halt the IC and the investigation into the Mayor/Mayor's office. #vanpoli

Shoutout to ABC for giving my parents a surprise lawn makeover—because who needs consent when you have a sign, right?

Unfortunately, it’s a sign of our times that residents must contact @vote4abc.bsky.social to have elections signs removed from our property. If you want your sign removed, contact Tara at tara.foslien@abcvancouver.ca

2023 was the most stressful year of my life. The immense pressure from the party to break rules and vote against my values, or "face discipline", nearly broke me. Oh and I was pregnant. I'll never forgive Ken or ABC for how they treated me.

Given all we face as a city, we need to come together, not block out the voices we don’t want to hear.  Today, Mayor Ken Sim has abandoned the core principles that brought me to ABC. Afforadbility has not improved, property taxes are up, and Vancouverites have had enough.

I applaud @rebeccaleebligh.bsky.social for standing up for what's right and speaking out, even when it's difficult. The priority of the City and it's people are above that of your party. #vanpoli

This is how you go about making changes if you aren't happy with the governance. Not boycotting the meetings and blaming everyone else. #leadership #vanpoli

Plot twist: Since elected two years ago, Mayor Sim has barely attended Metro meetings in the first place - despite campaigning on Kennedy Stewart’s absenteeism, Sim’s attendance record has been far worse. Newfound concern for accountability seems opportunistic at best. @jarmstrongbc.bsky.social

“Metro Vancouver’s governance is broken. Moving forward, I will not be attending Metro meetings and supporting a system that lacks accountability.”

Thrilled to see some ABC clrs voting their conscience and not as they are told to by the party. And of course excellent work by Fry and Carr for standing up for what's right.

Seems fitting for my first post to be a copy over from the old place. Ken Sim and ABC have raised taxes 26% over 3 years...more than any other mayor in Vancouver history. And he is supposed to be a fiscal conservative? #vanpoli
Twitter thread:
Jeremy Allingham @jerallingham 4h
Ken Sim is the mayor of SKYROCKETING property taxes.

2023: +10.7%
2024: +7.5%
2025: +5.5%

Kareem Mahmoud Abbas Allam @42kareemallam 3h
It’s a bigger number— because it’s compounded.

Jeremy Allingham @jerallingham
If your property taxes were $10,000 (nice round number) before Simflation, they are going to be $12,555 after this next hike.

He has increased property taxes by 25.6%. 😱
