on the other hand, DJs are hacking CDJs to add regularly requested features other brands offer at half the price. ive already learned to lean on some more advanced features to make for a smoother set, so im into it. maybe that speaks to my inexperience more than anything else.

on one hand, I see the Elektron firmware mods and think the community is dismissing the value of designing a groovebox with a lean, intentional toolbox. i think keeping a certain amount of friction in the creative process is important, having every tool available can cause creative blocks ime

Might be time to learn djay tbh, I have Denon kit at home but otherwise I only need the OneLibrary export. I thought I'd use all the fancy tagging/rating systems Lexicon has, but realistically I do all my organization via playlist nesting and song ordering, and any decent software can handle that.

An email from Lexicon upping prices from 20 bucks a month to 21 bucks a month. A small increase but it reminded me that djay is only 5 bucks a month so...

Prime 4 G2 removes the crossfader assign switches and puts them in a sub menu on the screen - that's a no go imo. I've forgotten to double check crossfader settings before, and I've seen others make the same mistake. It needs to be something you can see at a glance.

Taking the excuse to gush about this game again: as a boomer shooter it already rivals many commercial releases imo, *and then* there's an emotional throughline to the project that you only get from smaller indie teams (and this is a solo dev!). Must play for fans of the genre.

The "B Side" phrasing is *really* interesting to me because it implies the route is an integral part of the narrative/themes. Where Genocide was thematically pushing you *not* to play it, B Side is actively hinted at in the more accessible secrets, and is meant to be experienced by many.

End of Starchild is the best Doom-blooded project I've played in a while. Among other things, it really leans into the feeling of Doom being a first-person smhup. You'll need to be comfortable with boomer shooters to get the most out of it, otherwise it's a full recommend. msx.horse/eos/

Gonna keep hooting and hollering about this game all weekend, because I've upgraded my opinion to 'Actually the coolest thing ever made with the Doom engine'. It's not the biggest, or the most technically impressive. But it has the highest density of soul-achingly COOL moments and sights and sounds
