This is designed to support and protect junior-ish scientists who are affected by recent political science defunding efforts. So if this applies to your situation, make sure to highlight it in your letter to leverage this targeted support!

💡 Funding tip: As part of the Max Planck Transatlantic Program, there is extra funding baked into this track.

The core of the application relies on a short, high-impact pitch of your scientific vision (no budget, host institution, or expert specifications needed at this stage!).

Correlational evidence linking poverty to faster epigenetic aging existed before, but a causal effect in an RCT strengthens the case that addressing childhood poverty is a public health priority 🌱

1,000 mothers randomized to $333/month vs $20/month for four years 💸 We don't yet know whether effects will persist or predict adult health outcomes — so follow-up will be critical 🔬

I never studied molecular biology, but have found epigenetics to be an exciting substrate to probe evo-devo theories (lifespan plasticity, developmental origins of health and disease, life history, gene X social inequality). Cheers to reuniting the divorcées "social science" and "life science" 💗

In line with transactional models of human development, rooted in evocative/active gene-environment correlation, children seek out environmental experiences that align with their genetic dispositions, partly based on their non-cognitive characteristics, leading to different learning outcomes.🧬🌳
