Left Europe's most unapologetically pretty capital, Ljubljana, and Aquaculture Europe #AE2026 (thank you - it's been a blast!) and landed in Bergen, the equally beautiful capital of Western Norway to work more on #eDNA monitoring. Good to be back! (ancient photo, from when I used to live here)

It's great to be here withy colleagues from @azti.bsky.social in pretty, sunny Ljubljana, first time for me to Aquaculture Europe. Don't miss our talk on #eDNA based biomonitoring, E Villarino, 9.15 Thursday. Mine was this morning. Sorry.. 😅

I hope it stays like that or I might have to abandon ship, specifically my Swedish citizenship. But I don't really want to until I can have one of these

I read this story as fiction when I was about 15 and loved it. But couldn't take it very seriously then. Now I know Ben Elton is, among other things, an accurate, cynical superforecaster. Much like me, now. It's exhausting and depressive. Black humour is one of the few ways to handle it.

Completely normal early summer temperatures in coastal Gipuzkoa, now for the 4th day in a row, of course. The fact that they're 10 degrees higher than normal heat waves and that trees and plants are starting to wither, in what is normally a green, beautiful month here, must be ignored.

Fast notera att det bara är de "orättvisa" utvisningarna, som de vill slopa. Och man kan tänka sig att de har kontrollerat med Chefen, dvs Åkesson, före de törs gå ut med det

Zorionak - congratulations Dr. @ionferrico.bsky.social Abad to an extremely well (and hard) earned PhD degree! It's been an absolute pleasure to have the privilige of being your supervisor for these last years and today you aced the defence, as I knew you would 😉. >

Just coming back from a sunny walk to the actual, physical post office, from where I sent physical copies of the thesis of the talented Mr (soon, hopefully Dr) Abad-Recio that I've had the pleasure to supervise. Nice feeling, like being back in time to the 90s. And obviously I paid with cash, too.

Tror jag delar denna istället. Det är inte min mormor, som boken tillhörde, sin handstil, så någon vän till henne, när hon var 24 år gammal, 1944. Varsågod. Ska pröva mig på dessa chokladsnittar själv tror jag.

or moral implications have captured and "infected" the topic, to an extent that it's not possible to discuss publicly any more. And the counter reaction, as we just saw. That guy, who unlike me knows nothing about biology, blocked me, for *this* answer, which is ridiculous. >

We're now halfway through the Ostreobila project (EU Interreg) with lots of interesting results presented in its general meeting related to the aim of to better understand and monitor the toxic algae Ostreopsis that is an emerging threat to human and ecological health here, and to standardise >

Well, he did self identify with this guy in his social media posts. Don't anyone from photographers that take this kind of shot to journalists that publish it get summarily executed yet, btw? If not, better, but I'm surprised. Are we still in 1933?

First tiger mosquito I've seen here in Zumaia. So far they've officially only reached Donostia-San Sebastian as they're spreading locally from the north but it was just a question of time. Thanks for that, humanity, and the runaway climate change we've caused 😡. (1/2)

Nah, you just have good taste. And to be "upper class" on this I think you need to have very poor taste and definitely not be upper class. Lobster Mac'n'Cheese? Foie burger ? Wtaf? Who'd ruin lobster or foie like that except someone trying, far too hard, to be upper class? 😅

So, don't just start blocking people based on random lists from accounts you don't know. And also, what's up with this whole behaviour, and is there anything to do with these people making and sharing these ridiculous false flag lists? Is it common?

Join the worst bully on the schoolyard and let him control your life and make it miserable, you'll get his word that he'll protect you from possible revenges from the kids he bullied, in return. Something that would cost, let's say a hundred million gazillion global GNP equivalents otherwise

Great keynote on #eDNA based environmental #biomonitoring on #Aquaecomics day 2 highlighting how it can never correspond to traditional morpho based methods despite its advantages. We should "complement and exploit its full potential, not retrofitting".

Fancy encountering a statue of the old mega wealthy fascist, dictator, parasite, con-artist and general demagogue Elonius Muskus, whose descendants later included prominent racists, nazis, anti-humanist activists, killers of decent technology and puppet emperors. Herculaneum, ca 0 AD
Ancient Roman statue of Augustus, giving the salute that later inspired the derived version by Italian fascists and german nazis, Herculaneum, outside Napoli
