Des explicit anglais: Si on peut compter le scénario d'un film: le génial "well, nobody's perfect", de _Some like it hot_ (1959). Sinon, le mélancolique "Well, I'm back" du _Lord of the Rings_ et le terrible "He loved Big Brother" de _1984_...

Couldn't agree more. The French national library has finally given up requiring payments for academic use... With libraries simultaneously promoting their heritage material, it seems ridiculous.

I have talked about the link to the new world in a couple of unpublished conferences, so fair enough. If you can put meat on the bones, it would be great to see. And do publish the work on Manila. I'd be happy to read a draft if you want !

Oh come on... it's even made clear on wikipedia in English. If you write a book on the 15th and 16th centuries, you cannot put Douai in the kingdom of France.

The only M I can think of that has something that looks suspiciously like a strawberry is Etienne Baland's M, which is otherwise quite unlike your letter (unfortunately). Baland was active in Lyon from about 1485 to the first decade of the sixteenth century, so at least it fits your time frame....

Certainly sixteenth century. Dating hands is always a tricky business: people tend not to change their hand a lot over their lives and it depends who and where they were taught... so it could be anywhere 60 or 70 year range encompassing the second half of the century, in my opinion.
