Hyrule Interviews @hyruleinterviews.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

Our 1st original interview!: @willowstration.bsky.social and I got to chat with Jim Wornell. Jim was an Associate Producer for Ocarina of Time, and later, the graphic designer for many iconic logos and packages during the GameCube era. We discussed branding, art, crediting, logistics, and more!

I just created a gallery for Tri Force Heroes & added nearly 460 images! I did it bc I thought it would be an easy one- but I went a bit overboard since I'll never play the game so I included references for more stuff Huge thanks go to Zelda Chronicles, @zeldawiki.bsky.social & @zeldadungeon.net

I absolutely love how Ocarina of Time on the N64 looks. I only had to change the FOV to get these images of Ganondorf.

I just uploaded scans of this 1990 book that talks about a ton of Super Famicom games & has a really great speculative manga about what Link to the Past might be like once it's released. Manga by Hiroshi Aizawa 愛沢ひろし who had work in Nintendo Power and Wanpakku Comics. archive.org/details/guid...

Cover for a Japanese Super Famicom book (SNES) with character art for Mario and Bowser on the cover, a picture of a super famicom, and a bunch of screen shots and Japanese text.

The only thing I could add is that Giles Goddard said he worked on the 1995 tech demo, and maybe some other stuff. But that tech demo, aside from being a part of Zelda 64's history, had almost nothing to do with the final title. I'm sure it had some lasting influence on ideas, but.. that would be it

Internet Archive removes things without telling me (has to be a takedown bot hunting keywords with "Manga" + the game titles- They don't know the obscure stuff they don't license) so I'm finding what to re-upload. Here's an OoT 4koma that's been down for a while: archive.org/details/zeld...

There's a lot of misinfo about Ocarina of Time being spread in the advent of the remake. People like to read 1 or 2 snippets instead of studying the topics broadly, giving them a very narrow view. I wrote the first segment to accompany an older list of mine, hopefully it makes things more clear.

Were you trying to set up a broader timeline? For all of the designs? I can help provide as much stuff as you need, I have a citation list of who designed what, and we have a lot of characters listed in the commit logs.

There currently isn't enough information available. The model progressed with public release snippets. The art progression mostly relies on (some contradictory) interviews. I know the first approved pieces, some unapproved ones, and a whole bunch of tidbits, but nothing worth an entire timeline.

I just uploaded the re-scanned the Shogaku Ichinensei, part 1, April 1992, #Zelda illustrated short story at 2400dpi. There's also a zip with just the art- including the patched cover piece I posted yesterday. Artist Junichiro Saito / 斎藤純一郎 archive.org/details/zine...

An illustrated page from a magazine. It has Link, Zelda, and Ganon in a illustration in the center and they are surrounded by Japanese text.

I re-did and re-uploaded the Shogaku Ichinensei 1992 August chapter for #Zelda Link to the Past. This one has some of the best art out of all of them and I feel like that's saying something. I cleaned it and put it in its own folder at 2400dpi archive.org/details/zine...

I've been wanting to see a good version of this forever and now we have an incredible scan at 1200dpi thanks to @dendesnail.bsky.social I can't thank them enough! It's by #Nintendo #Zelda artists Yusuke Nakano 中野祐輔 & Satoru Takizawa 滝澤智 from the 2017 Japan Expo www.flickr.com/photos/histo...

An autographed line drawing of 3 versions of Link. The top one is Twilight Princess Link, the one on the bottom left is Ocarina of Time Link, and the bottom right is Wind Waker Link. This was a sheet handed out at the 2017 Japan Expo event in Paris and you could get it signed by them.

I should clarify that it was the first time the public could own any of the prints. They could also view the art printed above the kiosks at the same event.
