Yep. @polphilpod.bsky.social and I made this point in this essay on Elon Musk's real fascist worldview, which all of you should read if you haven't yet, because (we immodestly insist) it breaks new ground. Also see the interview with one of the authors of "Muskism." newrepublic.com/article/2119...

What this actually says is that majority Hispanic counties backed Paxton by slightly more than majority White ones. Which doesn’t necessarily mean Hispanics preferred Paxton; it means people who live around more Hispanic people did.

The move here is obvious. Erase years of right-wing extremist violence, recast groups perceived by Trump and his hard-core supporters as political enemies and threats to society, and call it “counterterrorism.

Notable that POTUS is posting a Fox News story about the USCG disabling and interdicting a vessel suspected of carrying drugs. Demonstrates his awareness of alternatives to blowing up suspected drug boats. And that killing people is very much a deliberate and completely unnecessary choice.
EXCLUSIVE: Watch a Coast Guard helicopter sniper disable a go-fast drug vessel in interdiction operation.

The choice to support Ukraine is a simple one. It has always been a simple one. And the beauty of it is that even the so-called “America First” crowd should be able to get behind it, for obvious and selfish reasons that Congressman Quigley lays out here in stark and simple terms.(1/2)

This is right. We don't have the language to describe what we're seeing right before our eyes. That contributes to the disorienting effect it's all having, which I think people like Stephen Miller, who expressly uses the language of fascism as a weapon, understand perfectly well.

The Supreme Court is out of control. To allow the president, without any explanation, to unilaterally dismantle agencies created by an Act of Congress is to endow the president with sovereignty. There is no justification, because they haven’t given one. Our country is in big trouble.

100% to this. Act like you have core beliefs that are not subject to focus groups. They allow you to speak from a position of both moral authority and clear conviction. And you can then embrace compromise *if* necessary, as long as the compromise is in service of the value you're defending.

1/🧵 Judges across ideological lines are ruling against Trump at strikingly similar rates (84% liberal, 86% centrist, 82% conservative). This isn't partisan opposition to Trump—it's the judiciary functioning as intended by cutting across partisan lines to uphold the Constitution.
Title: Both Liberal and Conservative Judges Rule Against Trump
Description: A scatter plot showing the rulings of judges against or in favor of Trump, categorized by ideology using the DIME score. The x-axis represents Judge Ideology (DIME Score), ranging from liberal (-1) to conservative (1), and the y-axis represents the case outcome (against or for Trump).
	•	Blue dots represent liberal judges, purple dots represent moderate judges, and red dots represent conservative judges.
	•	Some judges are labeled, including Rudolph Contreras, Lauren King, John Coughenour, and James Emanuel Boasberg on the liberal to moderate side, and Carl Nichols, Richard J. Leon, and Joseph N. Laplante on the conservative side.
	•	A note mentions that Boasberg, though slightly right-leaning, was initially appointed by George W. Bush.
	•	The visualization suggests that judges from both ideological backgrounds ruled against Trump.
