It's weird because Judy doesn't have the home life to validate that attachment insecurity. Her home is smothering rather than abusive or withholding of validation. So their relationship is held together with spit and tape. If Judy becomes less racially insecure, she may lose her need of Nick.

There's another unhealthy aspect of Judy and Nick only working because Nick is attachment avoidant, and Judy is attachment insecure. Nick likes that Judy doesn't abandon him no matter how many times he wants to abandon her, until he finds he can't let that type of person go.
