Fun fact: Tesla went with a giant touchscreen instead of knobs for the Model 3 purely to save time and money. Knobs would have required spinning up a whole supply chain. The company spun it as a luxury feature and much of the industry followed suit. But it was always an inferior substitute.

I actually literally do not think they realize what they've done here. Sonic isn't just a game with fans. It's basically embedded in the fabric of the internet. Since I clicked the link ten minutes ago, two THOUSAND more people joined. And it only has five channels to post in and four moderators.

God I am so exhausted. I feel like I’m approaching a burnout and I don’t really know why? My brain is just overwhelmed by my surroundings and the world, I think. Not necessarily my actions. Taking a little breather next week by getting out of town for a few days, so hopefully that will help a bit. 🤞

On Boston marriage, 1894

BOSTON MARRIAGE

What the Scarcity of Men in Massachusetts Has Brought About

The funniest of all social developments is that which goes under the head of Boston marriages. Two women, as well known as Susan Channing and Edna D. Cheney, have made separate appeals for this new departure of female habit, and have defended it with considerable success.

A Boston marriage is described to be a sympathetic union of two women, who have not been able to make good and agreeable matches with members of the opposite sex. Miss Cheney is of the opinion that in our present state of civilization they seem to be necessary and should not be interfered with. Miss

--The Evening Herald, 21 Feb 1894

Channing also believes that since in our present state of civilization marriage like wealth is getting to be more and more the privilege of the few, the women unsought in wedlock or unable to get the men of their choice should have the right to form sympathetic unions with each other.

What is to hinder a Boston couple from adopting a child or even more than one? Why not grow a household in this manner? The meanest thing about old-maid life is that it takes to cats, or parrots, or poodles -- generally cats. I see no reason why a cat shall not have a share of sympathy but it has no claim upon a love it cannot appreciate. Besides, cat-love is a dreadful

apology for baby-love. By all means let our Bostonese adopt children. In this way, while there is no increase of children, there will be a decrease of homeless children.

I feel this sometimes, too. It's burnout from so much scary shit happening, a traumatized reaction. You're scared, freezing up in self-defense. But remembering it's not all bad is important. Despair and defeat are easy. Hope and collective action is work. Rest up, we have this, together.

I saw this screenshot going around, found this detail charming, looked more into the game (I've never played a Silent Hill) & decided to buy it. Btw these are the "unimportant" background assets AI idiots think AI should be used for

Screenshot of a Twitter post by Val / @shegoingtogloat - it's a Silent Hill screenshot showing a close up of a cork board. On it, a paper says "Welcome to Shorefront Family Clinic" in a classic wiggly 3D font style. The tweet text is: Is this a Silent Hill asset made using PowerPoint lol"

33 years ago today, the Stranger stepped onto the dock of Myst Island for the first time. We can still hear the water splashing against the pilings.

The dock of Myst Island from the original version of the game. A wooden dock ends at a spiral staircase that leads up to giant gears on a hillside. A ship is sunk in the water on the right, and parts of buildings are visible on the left.

It was a highly developed, overlooked craft, as we explore: animationobsessive.substack.com/p/disneys-fi...

We were watching the Wolverine Sentinel footage, and... We used to call these "high chair boss battles" because the boss looks like a baby in a high chair and you're on their tray. Now you have to see it, too 😅

screenshot from the new Wolverine game with him battling a giant Sentinel. Wolverine is on a platform that comes up to the sentinel's waist. The sentinel hands can come to rest on the platform.

A mock bad photoshop of Wolverine in the same pose from the trailer shooped into a stock image of a large baby boy sitting in a high chair and crying. Wolverine is standing on the high chair tray in a similar angle and presentation to the previous game trailer screenshot

The best part of being an artist is that you can just draw whatever dumb idea comes to your head at 1am

A scene parodying the Neon Genesis Evangelion scene of Asuka and her Eva unit getting pierced by the spear of longinus. In this scene, Linguini and Remy from Pixar's Ratatouille take the place of the EVA unit and Asuka respectively. Linguinis eye is pierced by a fork version of the spear and Remy is depicted in an inset where he is grabbing his eye and screaming like the anime. There are anime subtitles at the bottom that say "AHHHHHHHHH!"

Last night, Seth Moulton became the latest anti-trans Democrat to fall. There is good evidence that his anti-trans positions directly impacted the election - 67% of voters said those positions made them less likely to vote for him. Markey wins in a landslide. Subscribe to support our journalism.
