Miss Cass (tortie) climbs onto the bed at night purring loud enough to wake me, and nuzzles my cheek before falling asleep at my feet. Miss Vee (grey) immediately jumps onto the back of the sofa when I get home so she's at Perfect Petting Level as soon as I free my hands.

I could read very young, could read faster than my parents could read out loud. But I loved it when they read to me, when my mom did voices and hand gestures, when my dad defined a word I didn't know, when they would pause to talk about the story or the pictures. The memories mean so much.

The Incredible Shrinking Woman. I was too young to realize it was supposed to be comedic/a parody--she fell into the garbage disposal and almost *died*, and then her family thought they'd killed her, and I was *sobbing*. I checked myself anxiously for shrinkage daily for months after.

I navigated by landmarks, got lost multiple times in unfamiliar places and found my way by luck, and missed out on a lot of events because I didn't trust myself to know the way or the way home. GPS and Google Maps and Waze have helped me immensely.

It was explained to me that the bully had a difficult home life (lived with his grandparents, parents had Issues) and that he was "just" acting out, he "just" needed friends. My response was "then he shouldn't say things about my body because that doesn't make me want to be his friend".

When I was 12-13, my bully of the same age announced loudly to the school bus on a daily basis how he was going to masturbate to thoughts of my breasts. It took me telling 3 different authority figures (1 of whom wondered if maybe he liked me?) and my parents raising hell for him to get suspended.

My mom got one of those tiny Christmas trees that came with a handful of tiny red ball ornaments. I would suck on those ornaments like candy until the red paint was gone, then put them back on Tiny Tree, now silver. Miraculously, I did not poison myself.

Pretty sure that in the Dragonlover's Guide to Pern (may dig my copy out of storage to confirm), it says that they were genetically tweaked to survive on Pernese grasses/foliage and were bred to be smaller, sturdier, and shaggier than Terran horses. Thus the shift from "horse" to "runnerbeast".
