I love when fantasy series have a dude called something like Stephen the All-Seeing, Keeper of the Demon Sword, hero of the Volcano Age. But in some tiny village, he's known as Bees Steve, that weird guy who loves beekeeping. The more uppercase titles the legend has, the funnier the contrast is.

"I get that you're upset about the end of days and all, but your eggs are gonna' get cold just sitting there."

Illustration of two characters sat at a diner table. the character on the left appears to be pointing out of the window (we can't see what's happening, but the lighting makes it clear something large and red is outside) The character also appears to be yelling. On the right, another character holds out an empty mug for the waitress in the background to refill with coffee. They look out of the window and have a much calmer expression, smiling with an open mouth as they appear to say something. Between both of them, sit a plate of bacon and eggs, and a plate with some pie and cream.

with a character who really did go all in on hounding too, another spin I thought was cool. Loved this one, and y'all continue to give me more ideas too.

010

Lady Alecto @ladyalecto.bsky.social · 12h

And a handler named Wrath? *nimona voice* METAL Also the imagery of the open hanger door too, and gods again, the internal thought track Lumille has. Let out only to be caged- in ones head. Lines that go hard Flux. As did only time for thought after action,

110

Lady Alecto @ladyalecto.bsky.social · 12h

It's been seeing everyone's spin on Hounds, Handler's and the dynamics between the characters around them. Notably the memory between Lumille and Georgia in this one Also just comparing it to Story's too, that slow burn hypno vs brutal kennel combat but gods both work so perfectly in the setting.

So last one of the night as it's getting late. Bloodsport by @hexhound.bsky.social Just a small aside before i do get to the read, more knightsplo too please? Conquest as I said before was equally great. That said, if there's one thing I have been loving about reading more mechsplo too?

110

Lady Alecto @ladyalecto.bsky.social · 14h

A loop, an ending returning to a beginning, it's such a fun little move when done well, and you pulled it off with flair. Also? Don't discount your writing either, i see that note at the end. =p Ya did good.

221

Lady Alecto @ladyalecto.bsky.social · 14h

The figure eights, the shaker, the damn drink itself, the internal dialogue, yeah we're back in keyboard smash territory again. The way she played Mariella, and the slam of the shaker, no lie i almost flinched myself. As I mentioned earlier in terms of favorite writing moves too?

121

Lady Alecto @ladyalecto.bsky.social · 14h

Yes, it was obvious who the bartender was, yes I was waiting for the Starlight laced drink, no I didn't care that I called it because the leadup to it was fantastic. Every single little movement, my own love of hypno was going "Oh yeah, this fucks, and I can see it working like this."

121

Lady Alecto @ladyalecto.bsky.social · 14h

Right then, back on the reading for a little more before bed. And next up, Barhound by @storyteller13.bsky.social And once again Story you do not disappoint. I love the bluesky shorts but this one, oh this one is such a well woven little bit of hypnokink right from the jump.

121

Lady Alecto @ladyalecto.bsky.social · 14h

You deserve the praise, not kidding when i say this is easily in the top tier pile of things i've recently read.

Halloween is for lovers.

A white fox and a scaled red fox sitting on the steps outside of a halloween party seen through misty glass behind them. A jack o lantern provides warm ambient light. The red fox on the right (bigger) gently holds the white fox's chin as they are about to kiss. They are both wearing victorian dresses in black with bows. The moon is blue and dep in the background with some trees crossing it's glow.

being here (and you Sylvia) inspired me to try my hand at micro fics, which are fun, and work for the odd idea that doesn't merit the word count. Same way i do agree with Kalli that long form can be a major inspiration too, has been for me again with my reading list today for sure.

110

Lady Alecto @ladyalecto.bsky.social · 18h

My opinion on long vs short is my opinion on art in general, do what you like, how you like, for who you like, be it others or self. Though being mainly longform, and someone who hates short attention span theater (tiktok) i will admit a personal bias. But in the same vein
