I’ve heard the name Joyce Carol Oates from time to time through the years but literally had no idea who she was or what she was famous for. Now I know her for exactly one thing and I hate it. “It’s okay if AI writes to formula” is the dumbest, most irritating framing.

Say what you will about the gate prices of #DisneylandResort and #WaltDisneyWorldResort, they are peanuts compared doing a similar amount of rides and attractions at #WashingtonStateFair. And the rides don’t look like high school play sets and Party City table cloths over chain link fences.

It’s funny how #AvengersEndgame had no post-credits tags at all, the first for the #MCU. Which made sense. It was a period on a 22 movie sentence. And now it has post-credits tags that will pay off in two months while so many tags from the last seven years will likely never see any payoff.

Is it weird that the closest analogue I feel when watching #BlackPanther is James Bond? Obviously there’s more going on than just that, but right down to the end titles, I can’t shake the sense that Coogler was making a James Bond movie in the #MCU.

There is something... boring. Tedious, maybe?... about Brad Bird naming his futuristic noir protagonist and the movie itself "Ray Gunn". First, it's even less subtle than Lucas' naming a bad guy "Nute Gunray". Second, it's so obvious. Third, it's just not how noir names and titles have worked.

#ThorRagnarok was solid. If they wanted to move away from Branagh’s established tone, this was a nice step. Humorous, raucous, very Kirby, Thor is *mostly* still recognizable. Then Taika went too hard into his brand of humor and #ThorLoveandThunder was a mess. But he hit a sweet spot here. #MCU

All this does is clarify what they’ve been doing all along. I’ve been on the ad-free tier since it was introduced and I always get a promo for some movie or show before what I’m streaming. Man, I don’t know if I really even remember. But the first one I have really clear memories of playing on my old Intellivision was Tron: Deadly Discs. I remember the first time I took out a Recognizer and flipping out that it had finally happened. But I know I was all over arcade cabs before that.

I’ll say this for the Pascal produced #SpiderMan movies that actually star a Spider-Man, they have awesome end titles. I think my favorite is still #IntotheSpiderVerse, but #Homecoming through #NoWayHome are not without their charms. #BrandNewDay was a disappointment in that department. #MCU

Is there a greater step up between a movie and its sequel than #GuardiansoftheGalaxy and #GuardiansoftheGalaxyVol2? I don’t think so, but it’s quite a feat considering how good Vol 1 was to start with. V1 was a great action adventure, but V2 is that plus deeper themes and an amazing finale.
