Today we honour and remember the people we have lost, and reflect on the progress made in fighting HIV Despite the advances in treatment and testing, we can't take for granted all the progress made. Stigma still persists and we must challenge it whenever we encounter it.

Labour’s record on LGBTQ rights in Ireland is second to none. Most major progress for our community happened with Labour’s support. It’s nice not to be politically alone in delivering legislation to address these unjust historical convictions thanks to SF, SocDem, Greens, PBP and IND TDs.

Republic of Ireland rises up the ILGA (Europe) Rainbow Map to 14th place! This is great news, but we can do better. As noted, Ireland remains weak on many different LGBTQI+ issues. Contact your local Councillors, TDs, Senators, and MEPs to inform them how we must improve LGBTQI+ rights.
A red graphic with a colour coded map of Europe from Green to Red covering the level of equality for LGBTQI+ individuals.A red graphic with white text which reads "This great news from ILGA shows how the Republic of Ireland continues to improve on LGBTQI+ rights, but there is so much more to do. As noted, Ireland remains weak on issues of hate speech protections, the continued existence of so-called conversion therapy practices, the pathologisation of transgender healthcare, in addition to there being zero protections for the bodily integrity of intersex people. However, we can also see further threats closer to home."A red graphic with white text which reads "The report also shows that the UK, including Northern Ireland, has dropped six places to 22nd place, in large part due to the persistent attacks from the UK Supreme Court and UK Government on the transgender community. Once a leader in LGBTQI+ rights, we are seeing how the rights of the British LGBTQI+ community can be eroded and this must serve for us as a warning in the Republic of Ireland."A red graphic with white text which reads "Our rights were never granted to us, they were fought for and won. We must continue to fight for full equality for all LGBTQI+ people, both at home and abroad. Contact your local Councillors, TDs, Senators, and MEPs to inform them how we must improve LGBTQI+ rights here and elsewhere."

Trans women are women. Trans men are men. Intersex and non-binary people exist—and are loved. 🌹🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍⚧️
A red background with a transparent ribbon in the transgender pride flag. There is white text which reads, "We send our solidarity to the trans community of the U.K. following today’s decision by the Supreme Court. This decision sends yet another painful message: that trans people’s rights and lives remain under constant scrutiny, and that their identity and gender continue to be invalidated."A red background with a transparent ribbon in the transgender pride flag. There is white text which reads, "This ruling is part of a continued and determined campaign to push trans people to the margins of society and to erode their already fragile protections and rights. Transphobia, homophobia, and misogyny are inextricably linked—and just as to fight one is to fight them all, to accept one form of bigotry is to open the door to others."A red background with a transparent ribbon in the transgender pride flag. There is white text which reads, "We know that here in Ireland, another world is possible—but it is never easily won. Like all LGBTQ+ communities across the world, trans women, trans men, intersex, and non-binary people have always played an active role in fighting for the rights of our community. We cannot ignore them now, and we cannot abandon them—whether on the island of Ireland or elsewhere."A red background with a transparent ribbon in the transgender pride flag.
