Overall, I had a good time but I think I'd rate MGS2 lower on my list to other games in the series. I think I'd rank the MGS games I've beaten this way: MGS3, MGS1, Peace Walker, Ground Zeroes, MGS2, MGS4. (MGS V Phantom Pain isn't listed because I haven't beaten it yet.)

Also, the endgame being almost entirely cutscenes was giving me war flashbacks to MGS4. I think there were other ways the ending cutscene dump could have been made into proper gameplay sequences but maybe due to time/budget (or most likely author's intent) it wasn't possible.

I also didn't really care for Rose as a character in this. Very whiny and didn't really add much to the story. I missed having a wider cast to talk to over Codec.

I disliked exploring on the Big Shell. Especially when backtracking, the forced camera angles made sneaking successfully much harder. The controls in this port also don't feel very accurate. The wall sidling specifically felt very tempermental. I accidentally revealed myself so many times.

MGS2 was fun but a bit of a mixed bag for me. I really liked the parallels it sets with MGS1 (which they capitalize on later), the broader ideas regarding legacies/memes/genes, and I enjoyed Raiden as a character.

Is it a little on the long side? Yes. But it does have more thrilling combat and a more unique setting/story. I do think Midna is still the best Zelda companion though.
