I never realized the penguins at Linux boot are a kernel option. compiled the kernel,finished Linux from Scratch, added it to grub, booted into the system. works. I can't say that was a quick process. I think if i did it again I would automate a large part. #linux

so I was ragging on about using the System V version of #lfs which doesn't use systemd. Turns out it still uses parts of systemd, because device management is done by udev, which you have to compile from the systemd package. ha! #linux
