Devere continues to go through the town on unicornback and happens to come near a large pool of water where a group of people clad in white garb are gathered at. Nearby is a white church building with stained glass windows and a tree with various ribbons tied to it. A keeper (who is like a priest) wearing green robes is in the water and speaking to the crowd.
Keeper: We are those exiled from Eden and denied blessed conjuration.

He continues as Devere and his unicorn slowly passes by on the nearby road. Only one man looks back at him, the rest of the crowd seem mostly focused on the keeper's words, save for one little girl who looks like she's freezing in the water. We see the keeper's back.
Keeper: Our misuse of his gifts tainted the essences, forcing his hand. But God forgives and awaits our purified spirits.

We finally see the keeper from the front. He's a stocky man with neck-length, dark blonde hair and some stubble on his face. He holds up a vial with a lid shaped somewhere between a star and a cross and has a circle at the center of it. A similar symbol can be seen on the church behind him.
Keeper: Today, I've an elixir from the Fold itself! One with these waters, our very souls will be cleansed of sin.

We see Devere is looking on at the scene. His eyebrow is raised and he looks less than impressed.
Keeper (off screen): Praise the All God, and amen!
The crowd: Amen!

Devere turns his head away. His face is now mostly hidden by his cloak.
Devere whispering: Fuck the Fold and their snake oil.

A little while later, we see Devere riding Bill the unicorn through a part of the town of Far Water. Many brown cabins surround the still-wet path he's on, and there's also long moss-filled trees, large jars for collecting water, and a few people going about their everyday business.

We see a woman doing laundry by hand with a washboard (and clearly frustrated with the task) while her baby lays in a wooden cradle that's hanging by ropes from her cabin's porch ceiling.
Baby: Gooo~

We see a father, his daughter, and her grandfather playing a game of horseshoes while talking and enjoying each other's company.

And we once again cut back to Devere who's still riding the unicorn on the path. He lets out a big yawn as he's still tired and this trip is pretty routine. A man in a decorative, feathered hat riding a large, red bird creature called a magnales (which is walking, not flying) has already passed Devere and looks back in awe at the necromancer and his steed.

Joseph has a glass full of absinthe sitting on the piano, complete with a nearby small, silver bowl that holds sugar cubes, and a spoon for putting them in.
Miriam narration: He was prone to drinking during musical performances, and during his free time amid the evening hours. He even drank absinthe of all things! When I asked Florian about it, he simply stated it was his "medicine for pain", and didn't show much concern, so I decided not to press the matter further.

Devere pinches his nose and shuts his eyes, exasperated. Gates removes his hand from his shoulder.
Devere: Mmf, lose just one night of sleep and I get old fits... ridiculous.

Gates: Listen, since ya probably made it so that we're not buryin' two this week, you can head on home and have a rest.
Devere gives Gates an irked expression and finally taps some of the ash off of his cigarette.
Devere: No, I'm fine. Those stupors don't usually come in sets.

Gates: I know that, son... ...but I'll likely need ya fresh for diggin' a grave tomorrow!
Gates grins mischievously, pointing a finger up in the air. He makes it clear that he's not planning to go easy on him the following day, which in this case, forces Devere's fatigue to win.
Devere: Ugh. Well... you sure?

Gates holds up his hands dismissively.
Gates: Yeah, get goin'! I was embalmin' without your magic for years, y'know.
Devere looks away, the tension leaving his face a little.
Devere: Alright... thanks. But I still need to go into town.

Gates gives Devere a big smile.
Gates: Oh! Ya gonna repay Sissy with a date?
Devere looks very annoyed by this question as he begins to walk away.

On another day, Miriam walks down the hall after exiting her room. She stumbles upon Veronica Forsythe yelling at the scarred maid, Bridget, who seems to be trying to explain something with a nervous smile. Another maid is dusting a fireplace in the hall and looking at the scene behind her with annoyance.
Miriam narration: While I was learning much about Florian, the staff of Rosenia remained something of an enigma to me. Save for perhaps Ms. Forsythe, who seemed a typical housekeeper, short temper and all.

After Forsythe has left the scene, the two maids and Miriam are left to gossip about what just happened. Bridget, smirking, is pointing a thumb towards where Forsythe went. Miriam giggles at something she said while the other maid appears to smile at her words too.
Miriam narration: The maids kept me dumbfounded with their gall, but I didn't have to watch my behavior around them, so I grew to mostly enjoy their company.

We've switched to a scene where Chloe the maid is helping Miriam dress. At this point she's helping her secure a pink corset over a chemise. Miriam looks back at her with a small smile as Chloe talks.
Miriam narration: Chloe was the easiest for me to speak with. At one point I asked her why she was the only Scottish maid among several Irish. She told me she hadn't arrived with them, and only came to join Rosenia's staff a couple of months ago, saved from a rough life on the streets thanks to Florian's intervention.

Miriam looks to the side with a wary expression.
Miriam narration: Had so many in Rosenia been "rescued" by him? Did Rosenia's cook once see desperate times? The gardener, perhaps? I wanted to admire his generosity... but I started to believe that once Florian grew bored of me, I'd be given a maid's apron.
