Melrose was supposed to undergo a complete streets makeover from Highland to Fairfax that would have installed stormwater gardens to mitigate flooding, among other critical safety improvements. The previous councilmember killed the project

It’s amazing that we’re going to cause a societal population collapse and steal away the pleasure of starting a family from a generation so that boomers can feel like they made a good bet on the housing market

I've watched many videos about how staircase requirements prevent us from building three-flats that historically brought gentle density to places like Chicago and San Francisco. Exciting to see my city doing something about it!

✅ PASSED ASSEMBLY LOCAL GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE: SB 79 by @scottwiener.bsky.social that would end the exclusionary housing policies that have made housing more expensive and transit inaccessible, allowing more people to live within walking distance of quality transit and boosting ridership.

all i want is to one day own a modest sized home in a walkable neighborhood and raise money for shelter animals. wear an outfit i like, walk to the grocery store, buy some nectarines, feed cats, and live in peace. just don't understand why achieving this is so hard

Who do I need to talk to to get this in LA? I would love for all those who take the speed limit as a gentle suggestion to have their social contracts violated.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but turn signals are for signaling your _intent_ to turn or change lanes, not just for style points when you're already doing it

“Parking lots don’t employ any people. They simply provide space for cars. We have expensive housing for people and free parking for cars. … We’re killing our own cities. It’s a huge bummer.” RIP Donald Shoup

Love to see the new Farragut Connector in Culver City lit up at night. A small but meaningful bit of bike & pedestrian infrastructure that was well worth the wait!

Didn't do much to relieve traffic on side streets, either. Lucerne Ave (runs parallel to Culver Blvd) at around 6:30 PM this evening:
