Guess that might factor into the price point.

That being said, I still think something must be going on with Rewind. Unless they have some really effective gating options to compensate, Eject and Blaster are gang-molded.

Ah, my mistake

Jack @kuuga.bsky.social · 13h
They also said Rewind was "new tooling". So presumably he's been remade from CAD to divorce him from the Blaster tools. So you have to factor him into the tooling speculation too.

Jack @kuuga.bsky.social · 13h
That seems plausible! But generally, my point is that the Takara guys are artistically motivated (not just business motivated) to maximize the output of every steel tool they can get their hands on.

No where. This is comprehensively bullshit. What's happening is people without home economic skills making up ridiculous stories in which their own poor spending habits are Good Actually

I think it's because they had a budget for one new steel tooling and the people at Takara are crazy Auteurs who love playing Tooling Tetris and ekeing as much new toy out of the budget as possible. See also: Legacy Cosmos.

This afternoon in Marble Hill, a New Yorker was shot by an ICE agent in a residential neighborhood. Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds. We believe the child was physically unharmed.

This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation. I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities.

Our thoughts are with the injured New Yorker and his family tonight. We are praying for his recovery.

Get ICE out of our neighborhoods. Get ICE out of our hospitals. Get ICE off our streets. Get ICE away from our children.

Abolish ICE.

Not all of us are spending huge amounts of time over on X the Everything App. Competent adults have the ability and responsibility to remove themselves from situations that emotionally dysregulate them, especially when that dysregulation leads to posts like these.

1) becoming a forever GM is an easy pit to fall into and it's important that your players don't take you for granted 2) there are lots of ways to reduce the workload, such as playing other games with less demanding prep and/or structurally incentivized player participation

I also know a lot of unemployed and underemployed people! They are mostly queer, disabled, otherwise marginalized, or some combination. But that's because I run in atypical, marginalized circles. Their suffering and plight is very real, but it is not *representative* of a pan-American plight.

Jack @kuuga.bsky.social · 19h
But also: I don't know how old you are. But were you a working adult in 2019? In 2009? How much of your life was even eligible to be aware of unemployment among your peers? This is why individual human recall and sentiment is unreliable. Data and rigor is how we become serious & informed thinkers.

Right now =/= 2023 and 2024 when the peak divergence happened. It's frustrating to explain this over and over again. Trump is now, actually, making the economy bad. it was not bad 2-3 years ago.

Jack @kuuga.bsky.social · 20h
And I think a lot of people became very dependent on subsidized luxuries like food delivery and lashed out when rising service-industry wages and decreased Venture Capital subsidies made those extravagant services less ridiculously cheap. I think it's a multivalent epistemic crisis.

Jack @kuuga.bsky.social · 20h
But I also think a lot of young people, who were impressionable children during and after the 2008 crash, have mental models of prices that are "sticky". I think people react disproportionately to a price increase from $9 to $10 vs. a price increase from $7 to $9, because of Emotional Numbers

Why can't I say social media? I think it contributes the same way it contributes to all sorts of other sociopolitical phenomena (racial paranoia, trans panic, etc). You have influencers creating unrealistic expectations of median QoL, and a neverending deluge of depressing stories in the algorithm.

In theory it should be a really great toy and I have both of its existing decos. But the severe lack of heel support, the issues with torso compression, and shoulder ratchets that feel like they tear themselves apart... It's less than the sum of its parts.

So, I uh started drawing up a crossover. Here's a one-page gag
Five-panel comic:
Panels 1-2: panning shot from left to right of Green Lantern Jon Stewart eating lunch in the Watchtower cafeteria. Across the table (panel 2), sits the Flash, Wally West. Between them, oddly enough, is a Robot Master, Quickman. He's just watching
Jon, talking to Wally: "I can't believe a kid like you had never played a Megaman game. I know I still fire up my copy of Megaman 2 on my days off. Even if I still can't get past those lasers without the Time Stopper."
Wally: "Listen GL, I was a Sonic kid because Genesis does what Nintendon't."
Panel 3: Batman approaches their table, holding a tray.
Batman: "I did a Buster-only speedrun for Gotham's All Games Done Quick."
Panel 4: the other three characters staring in shock
Panel 5: Closeup on Batman
Batman: "It was for charity."

disingenuous and utterly misleading reporting by RPS here: Discord did not suffer any kind of breach this is a completely-unaffiliated-with-Discord service
Gaming chat app Discord has suffered another user data breach, with a suspected 1 million email addresses stolen alongside (potentially many more) user IDs and IP addresses. While Discord was not targeted directly, third party security service Double Counter have reported a "deliberate, multi-stage attack" wherein hackers spent nearly six hours poking around their infrastructure before the vulnerability was closed.

Double Counter essentially acts as a bouncer bot for Discord servers, promising to detect and block unsanctioned alt accounts and prevent hostile 'raids' by large groups of malicious users. While its efficacy in that mission is debated by Discord users, and the service has previously been accused of selling user data for revenue, the fact is that Double Counter can collect and store personal info of the users that visit its 'protected' servers. Info that, now, has been partly or entirely nicked by Internet miscreants.

By Double Counter’s own estimates, around 1 million user email addresses have been affected, with databases of Discord IDs, usernames, IP addresses, and even location info for up to 28 million users also "partly" copied by the hackers. Security breach trackers Have I Been Pwned further report that 275,000 of the pinched emails and usernames have since been posted publicly.

This headline is extremely misleading. Neither Discord, nor any entity affiliated with or trusted by Discord, was hacked. The hack was against an unofficial 3rd party moderation service that some server operators use. Discord gave them zero sensitive information. It all came from willing users.

Discord didn't trust these guys. Discord didn't give them anything. It's a third party that operates moderation bots in individual servers.

It's all almost proudly juvenile. There's this ridiculous sentiment that moral authority automagically exempts you from the hard work of determining what's true, being an effective tactician, or making sacrifices.

Black text on white background
"This day is profoundly painful for so many New Yorkers. It marks three years since the horrific war crimes of October 7. On that day, Hamas killed more than 1,100 Israelis and abducted 251 others. We grieve alongside our many friends and neighbors who still carry that unthinkable loss.

The suffering did not begin nor end that day. It instead continued through the Israeli government’s devastating, ongoing genocide in Gaza, in which it has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians—including more than 21,000 children. Even since the so-called ceasefire, more than 1,400 Palestinians have been killed. That suffering has intensified with every Israeli bomb dropped on ambulances waiting outside hospitals, every drone strike targeting a residential building or journalist, and every shipment of food aid turned away at a border crossing. Many New Yorkers are reckoning with this unbearable grief, and we mourn alongside them – all while knowing that our tax dollars fund these war crimes.

Three years later, we must refuse to accept a world in which occupation and apartheid continue, where war crimes are met with impunity, and our federal government continues its complicity with every arms shipment.

To honor the dead, we must fight for a world in which every person can live with freedom, safety, and dignity."
