It was an honor to receive an award tonight from the Fairfax County Library Board of Trustees for my volunteer work at Pohick Library. It was an even greater honor to receive my award from Leslie Byrne, who was the first woman elected to the U.S. Congress from Virginia. It was an amazing night.

My lunch cost me $2.65. It’s fried catfish in Indian sesame oil with flour, cumin, coriander powder, chili powder, and turmeric powder. We’re lucky to have a Giant supermarket that has amazing clearance on seafood. I stock up when I can.

Had a dream last night of me asking my mom to come stay with us during the Christmas holidays since my oldest will be home for winter break. I also had another dream of my parents and I wading in water. Very interesting dreams for sure. I woke up at 6am feeling sad but hopeful that they visit me.

I think it’s funny and they deserve it. My dad always taught us that we wouldn’t have our rights in this country if it wasn’t for Black people fighting for theirs first and making space for ours as well.
