New Merch Alert!! Fish. The ocean's full of 'em. And protecting the ocean is a global job, so we better learn the word for fish in as many languages as we can fit on a tote bag. Support @skypeascientist.bsky.social by getting a *sturdy* tote bag with a zipper (with a zipper!!!) at SquidFacts.net

I personally know 4 people who've tested positive for COVID recently. One of them yesterday. I know several others who are sick with something, who knows what. Masking up everywhere is a good idea right now.

Yesterday when I was crossing Highland someone blasted through the red doing at least 50mph. The light was so red I had the walk light. If I'd started across when I got the walk light he would have killed me.

I went over Ballard Bridge for the 1st time ever while not in a car a week or so back & boy howdy I'm never doing that again. Transit access to Ballard is a bit better than it used to be if you take light rail to U-District & then the 44 bus. But they need a dedicated bus lane for the whole route.

To put this in perspective chestnut trees used to be dominant species in the United States. Billions of trees were killed by fungal blight and now fully grown America chestnuts are functionally extinct. There is no getting them back. Ever. All for a data center. www.gadgetreview.com/one-of-ameri...

ICE is slamming far northern Illinois for a second day in a row. Rapid responders in Rockford say federal agents detained a group of roofing workers this morning—eight men all the way from Minnesota. Volunteers are currently trying to locate their families. From a local immigration attorney:

Sprayed plates like on this vehicle currently parked at the Radisson on Bell School Road in Rockford are illegal. FLOCK can't read ICE's sprayed plates but can read law-abiding drivers' plates.

This is incredibly important. I feel deeply that curbing sexual violence will come from raising social expectations of men, not from ‘educating’ them. I fear this is an unpopular view, because people are afraid to face up to the scale of the issue.

Tech companies generate billions for the Irish exchequer in corporation tax, so they have a considerable amount of power and sway over the Irish government, writes illustrator Harry Burton. "This reminds me of the power and sway the Catholic Church had over previous governments and politicians."
In the illustration, we can see Micheál Martin and Simon Harris in the pews in a church bow before the behemoth that is Big Tech, represented by a stained-glass window with logos of various companies.
