"Maliketh, the Black Blade" I'm really excited to share this digitally painted fanart of Maliketh from Elden Ring that I finished today. It's rare that a piece turns out the way I imagined, but this one is really close, and I'm so happy with it. ;v; #art #fanart #digitalart #eldenring

A digitally painted piece featuring the portrait of Maliketh, the Black Blade from Elden Ring. A werewolf in black and gold armor, pulling out a huge sword from his left hand, surrounded by blood-red magical swirls. He's surrounded by a frame made out of skeletal beastmen. The rune of death is featured on top, and the ancient Elden Ring on the bottom of the frame.

People really need to fucking re-learn the difference between "I don't like this" and "This is harmful". Not liking a thing is fine, but you don't get to dictate what others enjoy, actually. Especially not within fiction. Be an adult. If you don't like something, move on.

I've been noodling on this thing off and on for months. It's still a wip. I have no idea when something is done. It tends to be when I'm bored of working on the thing.

Hall of Echoes - for Magic: The Gathering's Reality Fracture This painting took me quite some time to wrap my head around. The description my art director Sarah Wassell sent me was very abstract and hard to visualize, but I'm very happy with how this turned out in the end.

A floating orb of iridescent liquid metal surrounds a star - the edges of the orb turn into hands reaching for the star. In the background we see floating towers

Don't forget that you may know people going through it & burying their struggles deep. There's so much stigma surrounding mental health issues. Breaking down that wall of stigma is EVERYTHING. Start a conversation. Show folks they matter. Listen to them. You could make a life-changing difference.

For World Suicide Prevention Day, September 10th:

Remember to check-in on people who:

-have been quiet lately
-never ask for help
-always seem happy
-come across as 'strong'
-seem to have it all 'figured out'
-are going through life transitions
-are always there for everyone else
-say they're 'fine'
-you haven't heard from recently

It's World Suicide Prevention Day. I've been there. If you need help, PLEASE reach out and seek help. There's no weakness in that. I'm glad I did. We're grateful you're here. You ain't a burden, you ain't alone. You're valued and loved. It gets better, one day at a time. You got this. You matter.

Text on a white background in which we see pictures of arms engaged in a hug, a smiley face, an ear, and two people sitting next to each other.

The text reads:

btw,
a hug is suicide prevention
a smile is suicide prevention
listening is suicide prevention
sitting with someone is suicide prevention
talking about mental health is suicide prevention

We can't let ourselves get tricked into believing that no possible future is worth it. That the world can't be better when this much horror exists. That people can't possibly be deserving of good when others do so much bad. When people fall into that apathetic paralysis, we all lose. Majorly.

I am 100% serious when I say that having an optimistic outlook of the future is an effort to maintain when we're bombarded with bad news, horrific actions & constant harm. You have to show up and do the mental work. You have to hope when it looks hopeless. You have to believe people are worth it.

This concept was introduced to me as "run the dishwasher twice" and was an important part of my executive functioning recovery as well as my path to self-acceptance.

When I was at one of my lowest (mental) points in life, I couldn't get out of bed some days. I had no energy or motivation and was barely getting by.

I had therapy once per week, and on this particular week I didn't have much to 'bring' to the session. He asked how my week was and I really had nothing to say.

'What are you struggling with?' he asked.

I gestured around me and said 'I dunno man. Life.'

Not satisfied with my answer, he said 'No, what exactly are you worried about right now? What feels overwhelming? When you go home after this session, what issue will be staring at you?'

I knew the answer, but it was so ridiculous that I didn't want to say it. I wanted to have something more substantial.
Something more profound.

But I didn't.

So I told him, 'Honestly? The dishes. It's stupid, I know, but the more I look at them the more I CAN'T do them because I'll have to scrub them before I put them in the dishwasher, because the dishwasher sucks, and I just can't stand and scrub the dishes.'

I felt like an idiot even saying it.

What kind of grown ass woman is undone by a stack of dishes? There are people out there with *actual* problems, and I'm whining to my therapist about dishes?

But he nodded in understanding and then said:

'RUN THE DISHWASHER TWICE.'

I began to tell him that you're not supposed to, but he stopped me.

'Why the hell aren't you supposed to? If you don't want to scrub the dishes and your dishwasher sucks, run it twice. Run it three times, who cares?! Rules do not exist.'

It blew my mind in a way that I don't think I can properly express.

That day, I went home and tossed my smelly dishes haphazardly into the dishwasher and ran it three times.

I felt like I had conquered a dragon.

The next day, I took a shower lying down.

A few days later. I folded my laundry and put them wherever the fuck they fit.

There were no longer arbitrary rules I had to follow, and it gave me the freedom to make accomplishments again.

Now that I'm in a healthier place, I rinse off my dishes and put them in the dishwasher properly. I shower standing up. I sort my laundry.

But at a time when living was a struggle instead of a blessing, I learned an incredibly important lesson:

THERE ARE NO RULES. RUN THE DISHWASHER TWICE!!!"
